I like lures that go to the bottom or half way to the bottom. How many of you like topwater lures?

:corkysm55 HULA POPPERS :corkysm55 after dark! But you have to make the lure produce the right sound. I have friends that can't pop the rod just right to make the correct sound. They suck and don't catch much. If you can't master the sound use another bait like a jitterbug, small buzzbait, or zara spook/puppy. Or just use a spinnerbait, slug-go, or floating rap. Topwaters at night!

At night old school with the jitterbug, During the day I like the zara spook/pup. Also the ocassional buzzbait. Want to get out and do some scum froggin! Not really topwater, but I also like throwing a baby minus 1 and running them just over the tops of weed beds.

Buzzbaits and chugbugs rule. Tie the chugbug with the knot under the eye, and you get a nice walking action. the best cross between a popper and walker i have been able to find.

I don't remember the name of it but it's a hardbait mouse with a tail and it walks like a crazy crawler. The ears is what makes it walk back and forth but that was a favorite next to buzzers but if the ears brake off(and they have) , they are worthless.

Anything will work at night. I get more strikes with suspending cranks and plastics than I do using topwater. The fish don't like going to the surface to get a lure. They want them deeper. :fish:

scums frogs are the ticket!!!!

Started fishing Sizmic Toads....they are GREAT!!! Soft plastic baits that float with a 5/0 hook. Get them either with a "normal" head or with a popper-type face: pulls through pads great, works well in open water. Seems to get better hookups than I did with scum frogs as well...

I suck at topwater baits. When I get a strike I basically pull the lure right out of the water. Unfortunately, at the present time, I don't have any in the tackle box right now. I will be getting the aforementioned assortment, though. Thanks guys

Scum Frogs and Hula Poppers, especially before a rain or on a cloudy day.

Rapala - Skitter Walk - This top water walker has absolutely amazed me lately. 2 large mouths of decent size and real nice small mouth in the last couple of outings on this bad-boy. I've already got the dots on the underbelly of the lure to indicate successful catches. Hopefully someday, when my son is older, he'll grab that lure and see the success his dad had and he'll toss it out there for a killer bass!

I like the popular ones mentioned, one i haven't seen is the goblin, looks like a small cigar, fishes like a scum frog

I've thrown a bronze eye frog, scum frog, sara spook, buzz bait, and a floating rapala or two this season, all with the same results:

Not a single bass on any of them. Had a few blow ups on the frogs that were then caught using senko's on the toss back though.

i lost my only scum frog last night on an unknown large fish (i think it was a pike since it cut it quickly above the knot) its been hot lure for me couple years now but im not saying what color :D you must have confidence in your lure before giving up.
