My dad who just turned 79 last week opened a letter that will shorten our 2006 deer season. The letter is requesting my father to pay out 100 dollars to the DNR. We will not be targeting deer this year the week of December 4, 2006.

My dad was drawn for a 2006 Elk tag that sounds like a Bull or Cow tag. I have not seen the paper work yet but we start making plans today. Changing my vacation time tomorrow.

I don't know who got more excited him or me http://s4.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif! I will definitely be there with him for this hunt!!!!! http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I now have to dust off the big center fire. WHOOOO HOOOOOOO

Gun to be used will be 7mm mag with nosler partition 165 grain bullets. (CL we don't own a 30-06)

I have my dad set up to hunt a private ranch. The ranch provides a guide and it is a one on one service. The ranch has 80 miles of private trails and we will be driven around in the ranches 4wd 4 door truck. The ranch has a 100 percent harvest rate for over the last six years. one the elk is one the ground the guide calls for all the assistance needed to get the elk out and loaded.

The Ranch is maintained for whitetail and outsiders are only allowed to hunt elk as they compete with the local deer and are destructive to the food plots and cuttings. The ranch is where a friend of mine took a nice bull back in the 90's.

Were really looking forward to this and my dad told me tonight that he felt better knowing I had him set up for this already. My dad has hunted well before I was born and we have hunted and fished together ever since I can remember. We still spend most every weekend in the woods from mid September to christmass and then some every year. I have not seen him this excited in years.

As he should be excited. Good Luck the ranch is a very easy hunt and productive. We hate it when the elk invade our deer camp lands. They are very destructive and keep the deer off the club land.
