I used to crow hunt when I was a kid in Canada. I always found an Owl Decoy in a tree worked great, it the natural enemy of the crow and they seem to flock right to it.

Haven't done it in years, but started hunting them again last year. Try doing a search on this website for some tips, I know the topic has come up in the past.
Personally, I've used the hard plastic crow & owl decoys in the past with good success. But if you move around a lot, them become pain in the butt to pack up and haul around.
My best advise is:Keep it simple.
A $6 cassette tape (Fighting Crows) will work great in any boom box, and without the use of a decoy. Just tuck yourself into thick bruch or trees and be sure to wear your camo...even a face mask!
We usually hunt the edges of small wood lots, tree lines or pines overlooking a field or clearing. If you want to make some cheap crow decoys, try cutting some crow silouttes of of cardboard and painting them flat black. You can hang them in the trees using pieces of metat hangers. We made some last year and the worked good. I've taken crows with #7 1/2 shot but would recommend the little bigger #6 shot. Good luck!

A combination of predator calls and crow calls will work well. Make sure you are well hidden. That is one smart bird.

Dont bother shooting a crow with any shot saller than # 4, 3 inch. I use long brass 3 or 4. turkey loads. They are a very hardy bird and it takes a lot to bring them down.

I have taken them down using 2 3/4 20ga 7 1/2 shot with an IC choke. they are not worth spending the money for turkey loads IMO.

We use anything from 6s to BBB.....sometimes they wont come down and we go for the big stuff to bring them down. Camo is important, and dont move around when they come in. Their eyesight is keen and they will flare if something looks out of place. Great for kids to shoot at and get some practice in too.

Go ahead and try bringing an adult crow down with 7.5 20 guage with an i,c, choke at 35 yrds. Yea you might do it but what is the right load for the game? If there is one thing I have really done more than most is shoot crow.It aint worth waisting all the 7.5 shot that wont bring a bull crow down at 30+ yrds. Believe Me if you do wind up enjoying crow hunting you will learn to shoot whatever you can that is heavy, cheap( goose loads), cheap turkey loads , duplex. Treat em like geese But use lead, hit em in the teeth and I swear by 3" #4s I dont like to just wound anything, evan if it is a rat. You aint gonna do squat with a 20 guage 7.5 at any distance. Make a blind and these are very keen birds camo is everthing. P.s mix jello with corn.

My favorite subject :D . I use a crow call tape, crow and owl fight, crow and hawk fight. I've even used the tape in my truck on high volume with the doors open and had some good luck. But, hiding and being camoed with a portable caller is the way to go. I've taken a couple of people out shooting em (crows, not the people) and they couldn't believe the action..the place I used to shoot crows was right in their late evening flight path. Set up one late afternoon or early morning and see if they use that area as a flight path. You can still call em in from pretty far away with the electronic caller.
I used a Winchester 39A 20 gauge for these. I always use hot ammo too, although it isn't necessary but with the lighter 20 gauge it crumples them pretty good.
If they start smarting up and won't come close..grab a dead one and throw it in the air(with the tape going)..I've used just a black cloth and it brought em in closer too.
A friend of mine marinated the breast and grilled it...kinda tasted like really bad roast beef.
I used to break off the wings and feed em to the hogs...they loved them..

I use a 22 magnum on em too but it's alot harder.

we used a electronic crow caller, and defiantely get a Owl decoy. Holy crap, they hate owl's. they dive bomb it and everything. lol
