I have been thinking of going with a new vane but havent decided, The quickspins are a seem to be a good idea and I am wondering if they really do shrink your groups because they spin. The blazer I have heard a bit about on this site but havent really seen them in action. So what is the low down on the both of them? Which would I go with? Thanks guys:coolgleam

Blazers without a second thought. Stronger, stiffer, faster, more accurate, lighter, and quieter. Quickspins are nothing more than a gimmick.

Blazers are highly recommended for the Whisker Bisquit, just in case you shoot one.
I haven't tried the Blazers yet but I am fletching my arrows with them.
I too was in the same situation, Blazers or QuikSpins....but after having a few conversations with some guys at a local proshop, they convinced me on the Blazers......plus, reading all the posts from GVDocHoliday.:D
Thought Blazers weren't good through a WB? I've heard of using VaneTec's with a WB though.....

blazers all the way,if I want my arrows to spin I'll put a helical on them

ooh...blazers are great for the WB. I've been playing with the oldschool all black biscuit and after several hundred shots per arrow there is no noticeable wear whatsoever.
Straight fletched or helical, GVDoc?

Hardest helical I can get...which is quite a bit.

Might have a 3rd alternative that's 1/2 the cost of Blazers. Ther new Norway Predators. Duravanes version of the Blazer. Just picked up some and will be testing them in a few days. I'll certainly keep y'all posted!!;)

Lack the stiffness and hieght of the blazer. That's why regular duravanes suck in the first place, they take forever to rebound from the inertia caused at the shot which means it takes longer for them to fully recover to steer the arrow. Blazers on the other hand deform very little at the shot which allow them to start steering the vane imparting a nice spine as soon as the arrow leaves the string. Slow motion video shows this.

I take it you tried them Doc? Any idea what the weight of them are? Can't find it anywhere and my gr scale is on the blink.

Blazers are 5 grains per...The predators are a little over 3.
The Blazers have made a noticeable improvement for me. It seems with all the gimmicks out there today it is hard to tell if you took a step forward or back when you try something new.....The blazers are worth it.
They are pretty stiff as well....so much so I think you could probably put an edge on them to increase your cutting diameter:D .

So is a helical just the vane on an angle?

I switched to Blazers two years ago, and they fly great, and are just like new after two seasons of hunting & indoor leagues. I wanted a heavier set-up with more F.O.C. so I put them on CX Terminators with 2gr./inch weight tubes, and 125 gr. Montecs. I've never had more consistent arrow flight, or better penetration on deer. I also shoot them through a Whisker Biscuit with no wear problems.

How long are the Blazers you guys are shooting? I'm seeing 2 inch and I believe 4 inch...

That sounds like a Moose arrow my friend, and I'd know...I've built a few:lol:

Bump on this question...

Blazers are only 2 inches long. They also make a smaller vane thats 1 or 1.5 inches.

Thanks, I could have sworn I saw them longer in a catalog this AM. Makes my decision that much easier.

I'd say the 2 inch Blazers for Broadhead hunting applications. 1 inch for target shooting.

The blazers are the best thing I have ever shot. With a w/b not a good idea unless you re-fletch monthly. The w/b will tear them up. I switched to a fall away for the blazers. I have had no problems.

Marbler...not calling you out but just an FYI.
If the WB is tearing up blazers you've got something wrong going on man.
Byron gave me a Wb to try 2 weeks ago. I put it on and have well over 1000 shots with my hunting arrows that are Beman Black max and Blazers on a wrap an not a single ripple or any noticeable wear anywear.

Ditto on what Kelly says...the WB I used was the old school one with the all black bristles and the Blazers look as new as the day I put them on.

I started using Blazers when they first came out and all my buddies said "Whats that junk????" Guess what? Every one of them now uses them and will not use anything else!!!!! They rock guys!! Try them , you won't be disappointed.
