Well after using my Roddy Hunter Linecounter Combos this summer 6 times I decided the Lincounter Reels are junk. I haven't even used them for Salmon yet, only for Walleye in The Saginaw Bay, also catching many 10 pound Drums. 3 out of the 4 Counter reels have broken so far, i fixed 2 of them for a brief period but they have broken again for good. They are cheap made, lincounters are junk, and the drag system is worthless. Every couple of fish you catch, the Drag goes out almost free spooling. On the other hand I really do like the rods though. They are very sensitive where you can see a perch on the while trolling, yet they have a good backbone to handle big fish. I think they are going to make nice Walleye/Salmon Downrigger combos after I put some Diawa counters on those rods (hopefully). I would not recommend buying these combos (reels for sure) if you are looking for any long term use. Just my opinion, and some info about them.

I purchased a couple of these rod/reel combos Thursday eve from Northwoods in Pinconning. I used them over the weekend in Ludington fishing King Salmon. I noticed too that the drags are not very good. The drag seemed to loosen the more I reeled. I had to constantly keep tightening it. I did manage to land a 5 lber, lost 2 others (one from bad net handling and one break off). I bought them because they were cheap. Oh well, if they last the rest of the season I can put better reels on them next spring.

most of the reels there are junk, they have a couple that might be decent, it's a great place to get lures and rods though.
so far i've bought the old diawa great lakes 47lc's and some penn gti 320's, i've been quite happy with these reels. i'm leary of okuma's, the convectors are supposed to be decent. do your homework, don't waste your money on junk.

Rule number one of salmon fishing tackle is:
Buy quality now, or replace junk with quality next year.
