I bought a Yamaha Kodiak last year, great machine, does everything I need. I really like not having to shift any more, and the in an out 4 wheel drive is a great feature.

I have a 1992 Big Bear 4x4.......it's awesome! It's my first ATV,
I bought it used last summer, in mint condition, less than 500 original miles.
it goes and goes and goes! I pull logs with it, I've pulled stumps with it. I've had 5 people on it during deer season, driving out to blinds and dropping guys off. In first gear it'll just about climb a tree, just keep givin it the gas! good luck!

I love mine. Big Bear 1993 350cc. Never a lick of trouble.

I've only tipped it over once (driver error) and it will not travel upstream in water over two feet deep!

If you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay last year for your used '92 Big Bear?

what are you planning to do with this ATV?
My Dad has a Yamaha 225(out-of-date) from the mid '80's and does 90% of what mine does. So...unless you are planning to haul logs or snowdrift bust, the two wheel drive will fill your needs.

I have a 2001 Big Bear, it is a fine machine. There is no way you can get by with a 2wd where I hunt. The stearing is a bit heavy on the full time 4wd but if you get the 2002 that problem should be solved. If you plan on doing a ton of trail riding I would go with a more plush machine like a Polaris Sportsman.

I have a 1999 Big Bear. 4x4 350 cc. I am 300 lbs and my dad about 240 and it pulls us through a 2 ft deep creek, black muck. It is a beast. I just put on new Dirt Devil tires. WOW:cool:

Up here in Alaska, Yamaha is the #1 ATV that people own.
We have a 2000 Kodiak as well as a 2001 Big Bear. We use them almost daily, and have had NO problems whatsoever. Just make sure to properly maintain them, and you'll be very happy.
If it works in Alaska, it'll work ANYWHERE!

While the Polaris line of atv's might be more plush and comfortable, they certainly are lacking in the maintenance department.
The Yamaha's are shaft driven, whereas the Polaris's are belt driven...that equals to a lot of extra adjustments, not to mention the slipping of the belt when (not IF) it gets wet.
I have a friend who has a Polaris Sportsmen 500. He has TWENTY-SEVEN zirc fittings that he has to grease EVERY TIME he takes that thing through the water...and up here, that is just about every time he rides. Not good.

Quad Runner.
I love it this thing is tough as nails. I wouldn't trade it for the world I think most of them are pretty good. I got the 500 4x4 with reverse. I have hauled over a thousand pounds with this thing.:D
