South Carolina Tackles Sportsmen Voter Registration Bill

Last week, HB 4780 was introduced in South Carolina to provide more opportunities for sportsmen to register to vote. The bill will allow each registration form for fishing or hunting licenses to also serve as an application for voter registration. Based on legislation initially passed in Georgia, sportsmen legislators have embraced this effort to make it easier for sportsmen to be involved in the political process when the protection of their outdoor heritage is at stake.

Seems a great idea to get sportsman to vote on a regular basis. onder if MI would consider something along these lines?

Can't think of any cons really. The pros would be getting more sportsman registered to vote.;)

They can already vote they dont need to buy a hunting license that would be giving money to the hunters and they would never do that.

Problem is being a registered voter means nothing. I know alot of people who are registered but they never vote. Most of the ones I know that won't take the time to vote have the same excuse why wait in line send me a ballot or let me vote online. Registering to vote is so easy and simple you can even do that online that is not where the problem is getting the registered voters to the polls is the problem.

Registering to vote--thousands/millions are registered. Only 18% (less than 1 in 5) voted last TUEsday.

Another way of saying it is that of the previous 8 posters on this thread probably only 2 voted last TUEsday. Did you??

I know I've said this before elsewhere but it seems appropriate to say at this time......It's your sport people....Take care of it. Get out and vote. Take an interest in the issues or one day you may come out of the woods to find out you can't go back.
