I just bought a 1988 Sylvan bass boat(fiberglass) for its age it was very well kept:D , However it is set up for two fish finders which is great, but i dont have the actual units. I have the transducer on the boat and its wired, my question is are all the hummingbirds units use the same plugs to the units?? Can I go buy any Hummingbird unit and it will adapt??
I have no paperwork for my boat either, so does anybody know where I can find out the model of my boat, A 17' Sylvan what? I have been trying find some repair manuals for it but I dont have all the information. the coast guard tag says Model 17PMO ? whats PMO? Any input is very much appreciated

Check for tags on the tranducer wires concealing under the railing or dash. They might have foil tags on the lines telling the serial or make. If they don't have any tags bring your boat to a good fishing store in your area. They maybe able to match up the ends to fish finders in stock or atleast tell you what they go to. If you can take a picture of them and post it here maybe we can tell you. Good luck.

I assume you already asked the person that you bought the boat from what fish finders were on it.

You prpbably will not be able to match a x-ducer with a unit - best to buy new. Like most manufactures they change the mating ends every three years or so - the unit will come with a x-ducer out of the box. You also are not sure if the x-ducer even works, right

Thanks Guys for all the input, but unfortunately I ll have to change out the leftovers in the boat. Its so out dated that its impossible to match up. Im not a tightwad or a cheapo i just hate wiring up stuff on a boat thats 18yrs old. The transducers have all changed style and I didnt want anymore extra hole in my boat, cause the tranducer are alot smaller than 18 yrs ago. Mine almost look like if my motor stop working I could use them for paddles:lol:

I have a setup in the front of my boat, it has some switches on a panel one is for my aeroter, i know how to use that along with my tilt and trim.
I have a voltemeter which Im not to familar with it. I know what its supposed to do but it acts funny. My very first switch is a toggle and it says run at the bottom and charge at the top I keep it in the middle, what is this for?? If i put it on run position and check my voltemeter it gives me a voltage reading of about 14, but I put in on charge position and did the same and my voltemeter pegged and and a red light came on why?
It kept reading that way for a day, but then I noticed when I charged my trolling motors it went back to reading 14 volts??? Thank you
