Anybody out there hunt in Muskegon. The state game area or anywhere else in the county?

I hunt ducks in the whitehall area where I have hunted for over 40 years. That is the only place that I hunt in Muskegon county. I live in the county to the north. The turkey hunters in Muskegon county took it on the chin with the moving of the zone 3 boundry north. Closed the whole Muskegon state game area for the late season to turkey hunting.

Welcome to the site multibeard! Have you ever tried a little farther south in the Muskegon state game area? I don't duck hunt, but I heard there was some good waterfowling there. Do you do any other type of hunting?

Never have hunted the Muskegon state game area. Having lived in western oceana county most of my hunting has been there. My main interst now is in turkey hunting. It is kind of addictive. Not sure how much I will do this year as I have back and leg problems that no doctor can give me a reason for other than my body is worn out. Used to do alot of goose hunting but with the seasons we have been getting, not much use going. That is some- thing I will have to get into in a seperate post as I looked up the seasons to the south of Michigan. Deer hunting in western Oceana county is almost a waste of time. To the fruit farmers one deer is to many so there aren't very many left.

Welcome mulibeard. Sorry can't help with Muskegon county eithor but shot my biggest buck (only a 6pt.) in Oceana county and use to hunt some grouse up there. years ago. Have boat at Pentwater so I'm up there every weekend. I am looking for grouse hunting area up there so I can keep boat in the water longer and not have to hunt at Grayling.

Don't get to do much grouse hunting as my legs won't let me do much walking. when I do go I don't find many birds. Don't get to Ph2o very often as I am now living in east side of Oceana. My one deer hunting buddy runs House of Flavors in Ph20 Closer to the turkeys but they are finally get pretty well spread thru out the county. Maybe the pain clinic can lessen the pain so I can run and gun with my turkey hunting partners this spring.
