I'm coming down with a dose of it today. Trout season is two months away and I didn't get a turkey permit. I have not shot a firearm in six weeks and my bow has not been touched in months.

The mount of my Saskatchewan buck won't be done until May or June and the black bear rug isn't coming until September. We've been eating venison almost weekly, but there's something missing.

A trip to the UP is planed for the first weekend of April and it seems like forever has to pass to get there.

The outdoor shows just seem to make the wait worse.

I've been staring at the new blaze orange mittens I got for Christmas today wondering if I can do something to them to tone down the color. I shucked some cobs of corn under the bird feeder in my back yard this morning in hopes it'll attract more than stupid squirrels.

I remember a time, not too long ago, when I was sweating hot and wished it would cool down. As I crouch next to the fireplace tonight, I wish a bead would sprout for old times sake.

Do you have a dog ? It is easy to spend an hour walking your dog around the neighborhood or better yet take him out for a run in the woods or in a field.

I broke my fever today by running my chainsaw and burning the resultant pile of useless thornybushes. I cleared a new area on my property that will allow the aspens to grow in strong. I had my puppy along to help, making a play day for her. She enjoyed many hours of fetching a norway spruce cone and sniffing for game in the brush.

The day revealed many signs of spring too. There was a male red-wing blackbird already calling in the swamp. Daffodils and crocus are popping up their leaves. And I heard the cardinals singing their spring song.

Nope, no more cabin fever, but about that back strain.....

I broke cabin fever today by transplanting 510 sawtooth oak acorns from srouting trays to 2-gal pots. I've just got another 50 or so to finish up tomorrow. They can then grow for another month in the pots to be transplanted in the wildlife areas.

Last week just before the rain I put lime on one ladino clover plot and one canola plot. Next project will be the 40 more Peterson bluebird boxes I need to build. I've already got the wood materials. I also will start cleaning out the bluebird houses along the US-31 freeway, my wildlife area, and misc locations in the neighborhood.

I got out and gave my new knee a work out today. I ran my young setter when two dogs came chasing something (could have been a deer) and mine wanted to join the chase. Got him stoped went the other way in the woods and he jumped a crow and decided to chase it the other lenght of the woods. That stupid crow would only fly a littel ways and set in a tree the pup would point till it took off again. I guess I was lucky he didn't see the mallards in the river that would have maid my day to swim the river too.

Had it bad. Haven't talk to the wife for a week. Can't remember why. I figured best cure for cabin fever, you go to cabin. took jake and spent the weekend in Luzurne. Chased some rabbits and just walked the woods.
Was surprised to see a few groups floating the river.

Anyone need something to do I could sure use the helpppppppp. She doesnt know it but the steelhead are starting to run really good. I might be able to get out of the home before she knows it. Wish me luck.
