Front mount Cobra Cable Guard and Brass Stabilizer Adapter: 2.00 (Clearance MC Sports, TC)
BowJax Knucklebuster Knuckle Guard: 4.00 (http://www.yeoldearcheryshoppe.com/bowjax-knuckle-saver-p-2870.html)

Making a picture perfect replica of an STS that sells for 48.00 for under 10.00....Priceless.

What did you use to keep the stop on?

Friction. I've put about a 100 shots through with it on...it shows no wear, makes a HUGE difference in the shot feel, and hasnt' budged a bit. It's staying there, that's for sure.

If I were having trouble with it falling off...I'd simply put a little itty bitty dab of bohning powerbond on the end of the cable guard...but not around it.

Something else that would work...especially for the mathews rollerguard.

The gametracker string tracking mounting bar unit would work great.

Since it's already threaded, all you need is the right sized nut to lock it down after threading it into the rear stabilizer hole and cutting it to length.

The end that the actual unit screws onto is the threaded end. Screw that into the riser and slide the rubber dampener over the other end. Easy as pie.

Doc- From you making an alternate of the STS system, I'm assuming you feel that there is a benefit to the system. Can you tell me if you feel that the unnatural stop in the forward momentum of the string will affect flight in any way? Isn't the string actually stopping short of where the arrow is naturally supposed to release from?

Actually...the arrows group tighter. Look at it this way...there is no speed loss whatsoever. This has been tested through the chrono. The arrow is coming off the string quicker, it may only be a 1/10 of a second, but you can torque the bow a long ways in a 1/10 of a second. I've purchased an actual STS and have been using it since I got it. I don't think I'll ever shoot a bow heavily without one again.

YOu also have to think that there is a short time period where the string is slowing down with the nock on it and in turn the arrow slows a touch also. With the sts the string stops and the arrow is instantly propelled from the string. Seems like speed might slightly increase if your nocks are on the tight side.

I saw the video of the STS in slow mo resolution and it appeared to cause a lot of undue stress. Just my opinion of course but I fel that there is an unnatural amount of stress involved. I personally don't feel the benefit outweighs the possible downfalls (re: string wear, bushing and bearing wear, etc). There's anawful amount of whiplash involved with it and I get the same results of the STS (vibration and noise dampaning) using other forms. But that's not to say that it's not a good tool. Only that the results are still inconclusive in my opinion. I look forward to peoples opinions in the near future.;)

If you were to see the same video...but of a bow without an STS...it'd actuall show worse stress on the bow. Imagine being able to see the riser actually twist back and forth from the stresses imposed by the shot. The STS mainly just stops string oscillaction and allows for a cleaner nock release from the string, and more consistent nock release from the string.

Thanks for the idea , Doc. I might have to try that on one of my Whisper Creek bows . Problem is , I don't have a MC Sports store here in TN. to buy the front mount Cobra cable guard .
