Do to my deteriorating eyesite I just purchased a Red Dot for my bow and was hoping to get some feedback. I have been shooting it for a few days and it seems it seems to have some good points and bad. I have found that the dot in scope seems to more of a blob when it is to bright and it bounces around more than I would like. Just wondering if anyone else is using one and what your thoughts are.

I have been shooting a red dot for a couple years now. You are correct that there are high and low points. I had a hard time getting used to the "bounce" of the dot. It seems like every move you make is amplified thru the dot. I must say it has made me hold better then I ever have.

And yes, the brighter the dot the more distorted it gets. It never really bothered me because I like shooting with a very dim dot. With me anyways, if the dot was to bright it would obscure everything behind it. I did find a "red dot" sight that has a red & green dot option. Green works great in lowlight conditions but was too dim in full light so I flip it over to the red and I'm all set.

I have been using a red dot scope on my bow for several years. You just need to adjust it as the light increases or decreases in the day. They seem to perform very well for me.

I have been using one for almost two years now. I shot better than ever - it amplifies any problems with form and makes you shoot properly. I believe that the problems with the "blob" are quality related. I use a Leupold / Gilmore sight and the dot is sharp at all levels. I love not having a peep sight to look through. My only downside is that they are more difficult to sight in the first time. After that no complaints. I will never go back to pins.

Hopefully the scope model you purchased will allow you to adjust the size or intensity of the dot....play with it and you'll find what works for you in different lighting situations. I personally like as small as possible, but thats just me. As for the bouncing, it's just going to happen. Adjusting the dot size and intensity will help a bit, atleast it won't be as noticeable. If you struggle with yourself mentally to get that dot to stop "bouncing" you are setting yourself up for a severe case of target panic. Don't let that happen!!! My first few weeks of shooting my Pollington, I went through the same thing, now I just jet it float over the spot I want to hit and release. The red dots are not an ideal site for shooting spot tournaments etc, but they are diffucilt to beat for a pure hunting site. I don't have great eyes either....focusing on the target and the pin at the same time is difficult...the red dot eliminates that problem. I don't ever see switching back to pins for hunting. Red dots are notfor everybody, but they work for me. Oh, and initial set up can be a pain but worth it.

Thanks for the responses. I am shooting great with the red-dot but it sounds like my issues have to do more with quality than the site itself. I will check out some other options as I know you get what you pay for.

I have the Pollinton pro red dot scope made in Marion Michigan, and It has never failed me. It has brightness settings from 1 up to 11. I can shot it very well when I dont hurry the shot. It does seem to bounce around a lot but it shouldnt hurt your shooting. I had my scope set for 20yard and then set it up to 30 yards in only a minute or so. I have tried the pin with peep sites and it is much eaiser to shot.
