We fished Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the Tightline.
Thursday was our best day by far. 7 Kings over 20 pounds including a 27, 25, and a 25. We started just out from the Bluffs and trolled to Pickering.

Jim, Adam, and I with the big 3 (25, 25, & 27).

Friday was terrible. We fished alot of the same marks from the day prior and only pulled 3 fish. 2 steelhead and a 14 pound Coho. We pulled lines and ran to the spit at around noon. I wanted to give the structure down there a shot. We trolled there for 2 hours and pulled a steelhead and two nice kings. Largest going just over 29 pounds.

We like alot of boats just thought that Friday was an off day and the fish toward Pickering would turn on again. We ran to Pickering again on Saturday for the start of the tournament. First strike happened at 8 o'clock and was a giant steelhead that was safely released 30 yards behind the boat by yours truly. Toughed it out till 8:30, pulled lines, and then moved to the spit where we had a ton of hooks the day prior. We got there and consistantly marked hooks and bait, but could not get any strikes. We could visually see bait just under the boat at times. We made an out troll off the ledge and pulled two steelhead. Popped a coulpe of juvinial kings out there too. Decided to run back to the ledge hoping for some larger fish, finally got one nice adult king only going 18 pounds. Total was 6 fish and way out of it finishing in 15th place.

Excellant tournament. We will be back next year. Congrats to Capt. Matt Santoro and Eric for showing everyone that awesome Box of fish. 152+ pounds for 6 fish. Nice 25 pound average.

I sure wish we could complain about catching an "adult king only going 18 pounds" over here. Looks like a blast, those are some serious fish. What was the hot presentation for the big boys? Big flashers way the *&^% down there?

Mike and Dave,

Thanks again for the awsome adventure aboard the Fishigan! The catch we had Thursday was definitely the heaviest six fish cooler I have ever personally witnessed. I think we estimated it at 143#, almost a 24# average. I thought we were the King of Kings until the father and son team that won the tourney weighed their cooler on Saturday! Kudos to them! Knowing that a 17' Lund with a two man team can go out and fish a tourney and spank everyone in the field should give inspiration to anyone who strives to compete. I know that I will keep coming back!

I think our best setup was divers back 50 and 100, using 8" flashers. The north wind has kind of a constant upwelling effect and has the water cold. When we got over the motherload on Thursday, it really did not matter as they ate anything.

Jim - Thanks for going, booking the hotel, and bringing the wire rods.
