Guys, I'm hungry for info here.
I've read earlier posts from GVDoc, SwampM, MthwPimp, NJ, KazooK, .......all of you mentioning this new Mathews model.
Summer is half over, how do you feel about it now?
GVD gave a good review....but now some time has passed, still feel the same?
Does anybody else have experience shooting this bow?
I'm lookin to replace an old hatchet-cammed Darton. A short BH doesn't concern me...the Darton is 6". But, I do want some ooomph in speed as I want to bring my draw weight down into the low 50lb range (50 to 55)...yet still get about 60lb of KE.
Oh yeah, smooth, solid, and user-friendly would be nice too.

Still lovin' it. It's about time for me to tear it down and get it ready for hunting season anyways. I've been playing too much with my Slayr, but now that that project is over, I can focus on getting my actual rig setup.
I will be utilizing the whisker bisuit as it's impressing me...I'm staying fairly consistent with it. However my arrow choice will change to either easton or beman 400 spine arrows as they seem to be 100% silent when drawing through the biscuit. My goldtips and cx's are a little scratchy. Sword apex third plane and a sims enhancer 2000 with a nap shockblocker 1000. At 63lbs and 29" draw, I still expect to hit the 300fps mark. I'll also have a STS system on the bow.

Drawing 63lbs...what is the KE you get with your current arrow weight?
Do I have any chance of getting 60lbs and yet drawing only, say, 55lbs with my 28" draw?
I stopped by my local pro archery shop (and he's a good one) the other day... he handles Mathews, Hoyt and Bowtech. Has been selling a few more Trykons than SwitchB -- but still sells a lot of SB ---and he tells me that I am the first person to ask about the Prestige this year. He saw it at the SHOT show but didn't bring any into inventory.
Your early review intrigued me. The thought of crankin' down the draw weight but still maintaining a strong KE has really piqed my interest.
I'm not into speed.......I just gotta have a decent KE.

did you ask him what it costs? Once you do that I think you will be moving towards the SB.

At 55lbs and a 28" draw...you'd probably be right around 60+/-...you could play with the arrow weight to see if you could increase it.

GH: Well, I've heard the initial retail number was around a grand. Which, I admit, is pretty darn salty for a piece of equipment that dramatically declines in value after only one year. Bows ain't guns. But, I generally keep a bow for nearly 10yrs, so I get some work out of it.
And too, it won't be until January 1st befoe I really start shopping and comparing seriously. I expect Mathews will be scaling back from the $1,000 number by then. It seems all new models come out at full bore price but market dynamics puts some pressure on 'em after the "wow-is-that-cool" period passes.
GVD: With my nearly 10yr old Darton hatchet cam I'm pulling 58lbs to 28" and getting 60lbs of KE with a 470grn CE Terminator Hunter Select....the 12grn per inch 6040. 103% KE to DW.
But, it's a very hard pull dual cam model with low BH. I think it has been a difficult bow to get used to. I'm quite happy with my shooting now but I paid some dues to get it to this point. This bow has got power at a relatively low DW.
I contrast that with a Switchback that I ran a hundred arrows through this past January. I don't have my notes readily at hand but if I recall I was pulling 64lbs and getting something like 56lbs of KE...or 88% KE to DW. Same 28" DL and same arrrow. I was pretty disappointed with it's power but was greatly impressed by it's shootability. I thought it was a very forgiving bow and very comfortable to draw and hold. I think the learning curve with a SB would be very short for me. Much more so than with my hard-cammed old Darton.
Have you figured KE with your Prestige/arrow set-up?

I'll figure it out with my hunting arrow this week. I'll be spending a few days at the archery shop setting up another bow and giving my blackmaxII a good cleaning and lubing before I ship it off as someone bought it.
The SB IBO's at 318...that's a 30" draw...the rating for a prestige is 320fps, but that was rated at 29" of draw. With your 28" of draw you'll be around 310-312. I'd say you'll easily top out around the 260fps mark.
If you're using a 470 grain arrow...to achieve 60ftlbs of KE you only need to hit 240fps. At 270 you'll be at 76ft-lbs, 260fps you'll be at 70ft-lbs, 250fps you'll be at 65ft-lbs of KE. I'd highly suggest you shoot one before you buy however.
My monsterbow buddies were up last weekend and they took a few shots with my Prestige...they thought it was fairly smooth, and they shoot the smoothest drawing bows ever made in the MonsterBow Pheonix.
