Area fish have suddenly changed eating habits in order to survive in waters where food is becoming hard to find.
Changing fish diet affecting tournament
Fishers and officials at this year’s Brown Trout Festival say the diet has switched from alewives to smelt and gobies, and just in time.
All seem to agree the cormorant population has depleted the alewive population that has sustained larger game fish in the Thunder Bay area of Lake Huron. Fish have become progressively harder to find.
