I just bought a used Hoyt Trykon XL this week and I’m afraid I may have been taken. Once I got the bow I installed a new rest and sight and went to fire off a couple arrows. Well, the first shot resulted in a very loud slapping noise and the string blew apart from the peep sight all the way up to the cam. The string actually slapped my left hand holding the bow. I know I shouldn’t have bought it with out shooting it but other than the string the bow ”looks” mint. I'm pretty new at this and would really appreicate any help, or if this has happened to anyone else?

Thanks
Eddie

Eddie, because you haven't filled out your profile, I don't know where you live so can't suggest anyone to look at it. But I'd definitely have a pro look at the bow. I doubt anything major will have happened to it with just the string breaking, but you definitely need to have it checked. Good luck on that.

Eddie, please take a couple minutes and fill out your profile. Towards the top of the page on the left you'll see User CP. Click on that and you'll see what to do.

Welcome to the site too and hope all works out for you.

Eddie-

Are you sure this is a Trykon???

The only reason that I say anythihng is that string wear and tear shouldn't be that significant that

A. Someone is selling it already
B. It's already breaking!!!!:(

Trykon's are brand new for the 06 model year:sad: (I thought.....)

I have cut strands putting on peeps and such. Sometimes you just dont notice. Likely a new string will fix it up.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I found out this morning that a buddy had dry fired it earlier that day and didn't tell me. He must of done enough damage if the string blew apart once I had it setup. I'm from northern MI by the way, I'll fill out my profile.

Thanks
Eddie
