Just bought a Golden Key drop Down rest. Got it installed and it works great. No problems with clearance or accuracy. However the dang thing sure is noisy. When I release the arrow the rest slams into the stop and makes lots of noise. \

Is this normal? Are all drop away rests noisy?

The rest I bought is the GKF Mirage

Little felt tape or moleskin in there will help. I pad the launcher and arrow shelf with it to quiet them down.

Exactly...the Mirage is a great rest.

I used the mirage for one year and changed to the Drop Zone for that reason the noise factor. Could not get the dang thing quiet enough for me. I did every thing, wrapped the scoop with felt cushened the rest with felt and nothing, just is a loud rest.

Here's a thread with some tips for quieting the Mirage down:

Thanks for the ideas...and the link.

I think I got a older version of the rest. Mine doesn't look as beefy as the 2006 model. But it works for me.

I am also toying with one of the older versions, stole mine for $15 new so how could I refuse! I agree they have really beefed this rest up. I shot mine for the first time Sunday and really did not notice too much noise but I have a 1993 Hoyt SuperSlam and it is not the most silent bow out there; never bothered me or the deer it killed either. I really like the scoop, you would have to try to loose the arrow while drawing. It is one of Randy Ulmer's favorites you cannot get a better endorsment in my mind. . .
