Just in case anyone is interested. I could not find anything on Comedy Centrals site about this but figured if someone was in the area they might want to give it a go.

I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.
I am definitely against that WHA, but to be made to look like an ass on that show definitely won't help real hunters.

Love The Daily Show too. But don't think I would like to be the butt end of some of his jokes. At least not on national TV.

It is extremely easy to edit ANY interview with ANYBODY about ANYTHING to ridicule or slant the story. You can snip out individual words and phrases, re-edit them in different order and/or out of context, etc.
Some of the funniest bits I have seen on 'The Daily Show' are simply facial expressions; no words; resulting from some bizarre question or statement from the host. They use that 2 second clip and edit it in to follow a different spot in the 'interview;' makes you look like a complete dumb*****.
Hilarious show but do NOT take the bait.

That is a great show! They have really had some talented people come out of there. Craig Kilborn(way better than Jon Stewart IMHO), Brian Unger, Steve Corell, Steve Colbert.
No doubt they aren't out to make hunters look good. Since Jon Stewart has been on the show it is about as liberal as anything. Still pretty funny though. They will have a ball making both sides of this argument look silly. Probably a lot of the tired redneck humor that NY and LA associate with hunting.
I'd let them rip me a little bit to be on the show. Should be funny stuff.

Hey guys-
This is Matt from The Daily Show again.
I started a thread a few days ago regarding finding hunters in the Detroit area who were opposed to the World Hunting Association.
I just wanted to make an amendment & say that we may also do this story around Gladwin, MI as well. So if you're in the Central Michigan area, we'd also be interested in speaking with you (not just Detroit).
I haven't had time keep up with the responses on my previous thread. And I won't continue to keep up with this one (if you're interested in this or have any questions, you'll just have to e-mail me directly), but I will try to address a few issues that came up:
* Yes, I contacted Ted Nugent already. He is on tour & can't commit to an interview.
* Yes, I contacted PETA on this. We're deciding whether or not they fit into this story. (And no, I wasn't aware that Comedy Central donated money to them. But what does it matter? That doesn't make us anti-hunting!)
* No, not everyone we interview comes off as looking like idiots. I always tell people (and you'll notice if you watch our segments) that our correspondents are the ones who are acting foolish, ignorant, naive, etc. They're the ones asking stupid questions (playing a part-- they're not really idiots) & the interview subjects are the ones who are responding "straight." If you don't say anything foolish, you probably won't come off as foolish.
* No, I'm not only looking for anti-WHA hunters. It's just that we've already fulfilled the pro-WHA side of this debate. And we're looking for an equal balance. Makes sense, no?
* No, Jon Stewart is not anti-hunting, or anti-hunter. That's just silly! We've done quite a few other stories on hunting & none of our subjects regretted it.
So contact me if you're around Gladwin, MI (or can travel there-- we'll help out with costs), feel strongly against the WHA & would be game for giving an on-camera interview!
I won't rule out Detroit-area hunters just yet, but right now it looks like we're focusing in on the Galdwin area.
E-mail me if you're interested, or if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

Got a call from Matt and he was very nice. Assured me thast hunters were not going to be shed in a negative light. He noted that they are looking for some people and hopefully something to lend some humor to the show. Mentioned that if there was someone that gave outrageous answers to ridiculous questions then they had what was coming to them. I agreed. Doubt I'll be hearing from him again. All my answers bordered on inteligent responses. Don't think the show could use anything along those lines.

:) - Operative words - "if you don't say anything foolish, you probably won't come off as foolish".
Unless you've had extensive media training and are exceptionally skilled at staying on message, rest assured that in less than five minutes a television reporter can make any person look like a buffoon. If you've never been in front of a camera with an antagonistic reporter asking the questions, trust me, you have no idea how quickly things can and will go downhill.
If one of you are "chosen", send me a PM if you'd like to schedule a phone call for a television interview crash course. If we take an hour on the phone I can help you put in place a couple of fundamentals that will provide you with at least a slim chance of success.
