Took a buddy out this morning and the lake was covered in fog first thing. Kinda cool actually. Surface temp was already 79 degrees at 6:45am but the air was nice and cool til the fog burned off:lol:
We caught a bunch of sub legal Largemouth on watermelon, watermelon/red flake and watermelong/white senkos. I had one bubble up on my new scum frog in the lily pads at about 11am,....twice. But I couldn't hook up. We caught a bunch of gills and one rock bass and saw what appeared to be a 24" Northern cruising the weedline around 10am. I tried tossing a white spinnerbait and a flourescent orange mepps spoon at him, but he wouldn't take it. As we head over to the East side of Murray, I noticed that my motor wasn't peeing, I think it has a prostate problem, it was barely a trickle, so I turned around and took it slow back to the dock around noon. THe surface temp was 80 when we pulled out. Dang, almost hot tub temps:lol: :lol: Believe me, I was planning on taking a dip after pulling out, that was before I discovered the motor problem. I even thought about diving in a couple of times while I was fishing. If I had a ladder on the boat, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
I've already posted the motor deal in the proper forum, so this doesn't get moved.
I can't complain about the fishing. Since I fished with WaterFoul in a Bass tourney, I've caught a lot more LM. THose darn Senkos really do the trick. I just have to start buying the cheaper versions now, even though we all know we don't fish to come out ahead or break even for that matter and when it comes to a fish that I don't even eat, well, I don't like throwing that kind money at them.
