The dog days of summer are here. What are some of your favorite techniques to get the smallies in the grand to bite during this time of year. I usually throw alot of crankbaits, jerkbaits, and rattle traps. Mainly because they make alot of noise which I think help the fish find the bait in the murky water. The smallies still bite these during the summer but not like they do in the spring and fall. They just dont chase a bait when the water gets warm. When summer gets here I go dinger worms and case helgamites rigged with a circle hook. Anybody ever try carolina rigged lizards or anything.

4" Black/chart tail Berkley power worms rigged on a 1/4 oz slider head

Toss behind current breaks or under trees and...

HOLD ON!!!

Also catches walleye, rock bass, catfish, etc....

Its simple, resists snags, is cheap, and very effective on a river. I've been using this rig for 15 years on rivers (mainly the St. Joe when I lived in IN) and it still catches fish with the best of them.
