I will be vacationing in Muskegon in Mid August. Looking to take my son fishing. Any chance of fish on the pier or in the surf (we will be staying right on the lake), or any charters in Muskegon that will be kid friendly? We had a really bad experience on the last charter - looking for a Kid friendly charter captain.

Thanks

I'm heading to Muskegon on Monday and was wondering the same thing as far as the pier is concerned. I'm assuming there won't be any kings in right now, but what else will present itself? Is there enough room to fish if your going to be with several people? Any tips or help would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Tom

It depends on the water temps. If the wind blows offshore, or stongly from the North, you can have cool water around the piers, which will bring baitfish in close - and Salmon and Steelhead will be there as well.
If the water is warmer than mid-60's, then you will probably only be able to catch Sheephead, Catfish, Bass, and possibly Perch.

In August the Kings will be staging and getting ready to run the river and spawn. Even with warm water, you might get into some fish in the middle of the night - til dawn or so.
