My partner and I were disqualified from a tournament this past week. The thing that really upsets me is the way that the director released our fish among other things like the way that he measures the fish. The director threw the fish about 10 feet in the air before they hit the water. I don’t think this can be good for the fish.

Does anyone think that a director for a tournament should act this way?

no i dont think a director should throw fish, even if he was upset about something, still gives him no right to launch a fish into the air, any decent fisherman knows you put the fish in the water and cradle it till it can swim on its own, some people have no common sense:rant:

what did you get disqualified for?

Well first we measured a fish on his ruler and it went 14 inches, about 5 other teams saw that it went, however when the director took the fish he said it did not go. That was when my partner said some cuss words which led to the DQ.

I took what i thought was a 14 1/8" fish to the scale one time at a big tournament in indiana,
the guy pushed the fish so hard into the board, i was looking at it lengthwise, and there was a bend in the fish in the center of it's back about 10 degrees.
i've never taken a short fish to the scale since. if you can make it NOT
go, they can also, and someday you will run into someone in a bad mood that
wants to be a _ick. stupid it has to be that way, but it is.
bottom line is the only way to absolutely know a fish bumps is if you push it's
nose into the bump board so you know its mouth is closed. not just looks like it is closed.
My partner i am fishing NBAA with has asked me to look at the fish when he
bumps them, and i ask him if he wants me to measure it and he usually
just throws them back.

So we have a disgruntled angler wanting us to jump on the band wagon to bitch about the TD that DQ him. Hmmmm.

Maybe, you should contact the TD and talk to him about what you thought you saw.

lucky dog....what difference does it make now for him to contact the TD? its done and over with so your post should have stayed in your thoughts instead of on this board IMHO no disrespect but did this guy EVER ask us to jump on his wagon? all the man wanted to know was if others thought it right to launch fish back into the water....
