Went to hubbard lake for the first time. Fished 2/16 to 2/18. The best day was saturday am, we ended up with 5 walleyes and 2 perch that were really nice. I had no idea that 15 to 17 inch perch existed in inland waters. The local folks told us we missed the really good action wich was just 2 days before we got there. Go figure on that one. But thanks to the folks at the Hubbard Lake Motor lodge for a great place to stay. We will be back to give the lake another go at it. As for the rest of the time we never hooked anything else. Only on saturday am did we take any fish.

Goodluck and tightlines.

Grizzly - where did you fish? Fish Factor and I were out from the Hardwoods (point off the s/w side). Fishing was great Saturday am. We only picked up few, but saw others chasing one flag after another. We picked up two more walleye Sunday then left.

Fishfoote, we were on the pressure crack. Right out in front of the hardwoods in 52 foot of water. I would guess to say about halfway between the eastbay and the Hardwoods, Man that is one huge place that guy has. What is that place looks like a resort of some type. Do you live up there, if so that is one cool lake to fish. Im looking forward to getting back asap.

I've got a cottage on the west side, about a half mile north of the Hardwoods. The guy that owns that place made his money in commercial real estate - he also owns a ton of acreage across the street for hunting. We must have been fishing right near you...we were the guys pushing/towing the golf cart off the ice Sunday afternoon. I think I might have even talked to you or one of your group while I was waiting for my brother-in-law to go get his pick up truck?

The truck finally got traction when we got close to shore, and it went well after that. Of course it started right up when he took it in to get worked on (something must have been froze up).. I'm heading back up this Friday afternoon. It'll probably be a little messy on the ice until the cold temps predicted for the weekend firms everything back up. Hopefully I can get some of that action those guys just to the west of you had Saturday morning.

Fishfoote the action was good on saturday, we had 7 walleyes wich 5 were legal, so to me thats a pretty good day. But with the weather that went through it slowed the byte down. Im sure if you stay after them sooner or later your gonna get them good. I hope to be on the ice somewhere, we might end up back there again this weekend as the last trip kind of was a learning curve. If we intened on coming back up i will let you know.

Grizzly. PS hope the rain won't mess the ice up to bad.

Be careful where you park. A few guys parked on the ice at the end of the launch next to my cottage on the west side and one of the trucks went thru Sunday evening. According to my brother-in-law it was only in about 30 inches of water, but required a wrecker to get it out...must have been a Dodge:D

Fishfoote, thats where we parked. We tried to help that guy out but the tow strap your Brother inlaw had was too short. The truck was barely stuck, just could not get the wheels over the ice. Brand New Chevy 1/2 ton. Now i know where your place is. If we go back this weekend i will email you. I still think you guys are in gods country up there, everything is nice in small towns like that. Have a good day and i will definetely watch for you guys up there.

I read a article about Perch fishing on Hubbard Lake between 5-10 years ago.The writer went fishing with a local who did his Perch fishing at night. They fished from inside a shanty with no lights until a fish was hooked.I think the article claimed that they detected a bite by the sound of a squeeking rubber band that they attatched to their line and to a hook on the shanty wall.If I remember correctly they caught several jumbos and quit fishing about a hour after sun up.
