Well, I guess I'll start a thread for the results.

I had the pleasure of having DonP and 2 newbies (Mike from my work and his Grandson Michael) fishing with me this week. We broke the pierheads and headed south for a couple miles. Don drove while I set lines. Got 1 in...got 2 in....FISH ON!!!! Michael landed a dandy steelhead that was definately going to make our weighin cut. I attempted to get the rest of the lines set and had just 2 cores to get in when another rod starts jumping off a rigger. This fish never stopped running and we never gained line on him. About 200 yds of line out and he just let go. BUMMER  Reset the rigger and finished setting all the rods. We trolled for an hour or so without as much as a tap. Don's phone kept us busy though, and one of them callers was our good buddy Live2FishDj...Darrin informed us of some action further south. SO after another 1/2 hour of the big NOTHING! we pulled lines and ran south. Never say them down that way but we set up lines and within 5 mins of getting all the lines in the water had one on. Within 1/2 hour we boated 2 more. Worked this area until about 11 o clock or so. I lost a HUGE steelie right at the net that would have pushed my personal steelhead record...but it lives to grow bigger! We quit big fish fishing with 7 fish - 3 coho, 3 kings and 1 steelhead...I think. ( My memory is a bit fuzzy about the day with all the house construction going on at home. But hey! my roof is shingled and safe from the weather!:D ) So then we headed straight toward shore to find a small group of 5 boats perch fishin...since we fished so late for big fish, we decided to not make the run back to the HUGE perch pack near the pierheads. Great move, eh Don?! We boxed 68 perch in a matter of a little over 1 hour. Our biggest was near 13" and weighed 12 or 13 ounces. We had a nice mess of perch and our 35 perch limit weight in at over 8 lbs...which combined with our 5 fish limit of big fish pushed us by Darrin and crew into a 1st place finish!

GOTTA LOVE THESE COMBO FISH EVENTS!!!!! Right Darrin! I think DonP got another new nickname out of the event too from Darrin...see Don's signature!

Here's some picts from the event weigh-in.

Grrrr...STUPID PERCH!

I guess I can take satisfaction in our crew of the "Homewrecker" doing what we needed to have taken first for the silver fish that take drag in this event...and losing to a real crew of "perch jerkers" for overall by a few pounds.

Oh, and Ben/Don...I like you guys and wanted to see you catch some fish after your dismal AM, but don't expect anymore on the water reports from this guy...the least you could have done was trade your perch for ours:lol:

Now on to the report. We had good luck south all the way to the Cook Plant in 60-80' and our best action by far was the early bite. Core and riggers took the bulk of our fish-only had one rip on a dipsy. Moonshines and glow Raider yellowtail early did damage then went to the usual suspects after sun-up.

We ended up w/ 4 kings, 2 steelhead, and a coho along with about 20 perch that would have made great tip-up bait, but fryed up just fine thank-you:p

Another great day with good people on the lake and excellent time with good people at the lodge! Thanks to Steve and Connie for opening up their home to all of us hooligans:evil:

*The person to the right of me in your post Ben is Creek-Chub (Nick). Thanks for taking and putting that pic up.

Absolutely a great day was had on our parts. It was the maiden tournament voyage for the Homewrecker, and hopefully the first of many more if she stays afloat that long. Sure makes for a change of pace to have a little competition thrown in there, and puts a smile on your face to walk away with a few bucks to boot. Thanks as always to Steve and Connie for the weigh-in and great food. Given the size of that spread, I think Connie might have thought there were going to be 20 boats instead of 5! We made a solid effort to put a dent in it, but I have a feeling Steve is still eating leftovers...

And thanks a bunch for posting the picture Ben. My camera (and my smokes) got left in the truck.

Signed,
Whatshisface :D

Nice fish Steve, man friday night was insane out there, a buddy and I went about 8 for 15 (kept 6 12 pound kings and a 13 pound skam) in about 2 hours but heard that it slowed down on saturday. Also lost one screamer that was about the size of your 19 pounder. Anyone else doing the Venetian Festival Tournament?

I'll be fishing it. Running down to Charlie's after work and dropping off the entery form.

Looks like it should be a nice and hot day on the water (as far as weather wise).

I was told yesterday that there are more then 20 right now. They were estimating around 35 for the total.

Looks like you guys had a good time, and I wish I could have been there, but had other obligations with another fishing group/event. Managed to have a decent time with the LSC walleye association and all the members who made it over. Looks like there were a few sore losers though!:D Remember being a good angler and a good sportsman is to be versatile in all aspects of angling. Most important is to have fun, and help those who may need it, even if it ruins your chances to catch fish.............Right Don? or Darrin?;)
