Tried jigging on the river, no good. Used 3/4 oz heads with the new bait Slick posted. The fish he got were on a harness, Thought I would give it a try on jig. Also used twister tail, and crocs spoons.Seen guys using spoons on hand lines and rod & reel the week before, they were doing good. Some were going with the curent, some agenst. What kind of spoons were they using, I herd the name of one called Hopkins, been looking and havent found one. would like some info on how to rig , and were to find. THANK YOU.

Drifterman2, Bass Pro has a nice selection of Hopkins spoons. They also carry XPS brand that works well also. I was on the river a couple of days ago. 2 man limit in an hour jigging these spoons.

You can also pick them up at Anderson's Pro Bait in Port Huron. They aren't cheap though anywhere you get them see link for pic-

You can tip them with a small twister tail, nothing or whatever you desire. Sure does suck when you hang though and are out $3-5 bucks a piece. The ones mentioned from Bass Pro can be had for considerably less. Good luck and they do work.......

What weight spoons are you guys using for jigging, and are they tied direct to the line? Thanks.

I use 3/4 and 1 oz. spoons. Run a snap swivel ahead of the spoon to stop line twist. Hammered Silver has been my best spoon, followed by blue/green.

I have used the same weights and hammered silver is usually the ticket. As Mark said use a snap swivel for no line twist. Don't be afraid to drop down some jig heads as well even up to 1oz as you need to be as vertical as possible. Tip it with a piece of crawler, twister, etc. Tie the jighead direct..good luck

Thanks guys, been fishing for years with jig heads and have had an awesome year this year! I havent been walleye fishing for a couple weeks now ( had plenty in freezer) but am ready to go back out and wanted to try the jigging spoons that I've heard a lot about lately. Usually fish upper Det. River, Can. and US sides.
Do you bounce bottom with the spoons just like a jig? I have trolling motor and staying vertical isn't a problem.

Thanks again!
