I am taking my first trip to the perch heaven and I am curiouse to know anything about catching fish there. My dad and grandpas have been going the last three years and done pretty well. Just wanted to know if there is any secret advice that anyone wants to give before this weekend.
Let me know!
Are they catching fish there yet?:)

Steely Head Lake Simcoe is roughly 50 miles north of Toronto, a group of us are headed there Thursday for 3 days of fishing. I'll post a report next week.

Anything really this is my first trip.
What depth? What rig and setup? Where at on the lake and at what time?
That's all :D lol!

Lil Tanker, We have fished in depths of 10 to 35 ft, its helps to be mobile to move with the fish. We use minnows and wax worms, but had good success last year with wigglers, the fish we caught were just crammed with them, however we can't seem to find anybody who carries wigglers this year. We usually fish the Port Bolster, Georgina Island, area, we may try Cooks Bay this year too. Good Luck, and try this link for more info. (fishinglakesimcoe.com)

L.T., Most of my experiences have been around Virginia Beach, water depths here are around 12-14ft. at the most. We fished there this past weekend and did ok, got a few real nice fish 13"+.
We have always used spikes and waxies, generally spikes though. It seems the fish hit all day, not just a first light or evening bite. Sibbald's point, which is just west of Virginia Beach is also another good spot, I believe there is a park where you can access the ice, the water depth is about the same as V.B. Alot of Michiganders also fish Cook's Bay, southwest part of the lake but the guys are fishing in deeper water (30feet). As far as rigs, the best spoon for us this past weekend was a gold Al's spoon with a red bead but it had to be tipped with a spike otherwise they wouldn't hit.
