I was out at stoney this am for the first time. Started
fishing at approx 7:30, I wasn't sure what to expect so
I put a tip up out in about 12 fow, and fished with a rod
in about 15. After about 10 minutes all hell broke loose.
I started hooking fish and couldn't get them to hole due
to having light line (1lb), then a flag went up and had a
20 inch pike. I released that fish and set that rig up again
and saw my other pole about to go in the lake and
pulled up a 12inch crappie. As soon as I iced that fish,
the same flag stood up again! Another pike came to the
hole and it was also undersized. I left my tip up and pike
on the ice due having to run and grab my other pole again.
This time I caught another crappie, about 10inches. So I
decided to forget the tip up and just drill another hole
and fish with a minnow. I pulled up crappie after crappie
after crappie. I ended up having 19 on the ice within
1 hour, with the smallest I kept was 10 inches and the
largest being 14.75. After that, things slowed down
and all I could get were undersized perch and blue gill.
That 1 hour made the day, and I would like to thank
everyone for their reports or I never would
have fished stoney.

Tubejig,

That's where we were getting those SLAB crappie last year. I was starting to think that we'd pulled them all out of there !
Well, it's getting late and the ice isn't gonna be around for long.
I guess I'll wait til next year (maybe we'll have a NORMAL winter) to get into those bad boys. Come to think of it, this is about the time we got into the crappies last year. Great report.

I was also at Stoney on the 18th on the middle lake I caught quite a few bluegill in 12 FOW. I was out there from 3 to 5pm and caught about 13 fish all decent size. Using a chartreuse jig tipped with a wax worm.
