Here's a few more, sorry it's so long!

A silver hen bobbered on a freakin' cold day!

This fish had both pelvic fins nubbed as well as the right pec, so I thought it was a skam, but it could just be someone else's plant?

Here's one with my Dad. He used to go all the time, but almost never does anymore. He got me hooked, and it was on this river. This was Jan.9 2006, Foote dam. He just showed up on this day!

are you sure this one isn't a salmon? Its dark body looks like a king salmon to me. do the darker ones taste any diferent?

i have not fished the ausable sinse june but my last trip thare i took home three silver steelheads. it is good to see that other anglers get lucky from time to time and get a cuple. most of the times it seems like im the only one catching them on that river.

Its a steelie, look at the white mouth. Lots of shadows in the picture too make it look darker than it is.

NBB,if you look close you will see a white mouth.White mouth means TROUT!Male Steelies darken up when they've been in the river awhile, females are the silver ones, unless there's been a fresh run.Females have a smaller mouth, males bigger. Also I really don't think you were the only one hookin up!!

Yeah that is a steelhead, I know the difference between the two, I'm not a part-timer. Like Quest said, there is alot of shadow, if his bright red-stripe would have turned out, it wouldn't be as hard to tell, not that it is. Salmon are not around in Febuary. And dark ones are best for smoking, which is where this one went, and it wasn't my smoker.

And you are definanetly NOT the only one hooking up. I catch more than enough of them from the Au Sable from early October to early-mid June, depends on how long they're fishable. I also highly doubt you limited out on fresh chromers in June, as my last trip there was around the 10th or so, and there were two moldies seen in the spill, and not one on the gravel, indicating the run was OVER. You must either fish from a boat, or stick to the lower river, because you don't look familiar in your avatar, and I'm somewhere between the dam and the highbanks every week. Occasionally, I'm around the Whirpool or out at the mouth.

ok i guess it mite be a steelhead but it is hard to tell it that pic most of the colored ones i get are red thogh and not black.

i dont know why you would doubt that i got my limit in june thogh. i have been catching steelheads in that river since you were in dipers ill bet. if you would fish spots other than foote more offten you would find them too. most the oldtimers like me stay downstreem of that madhouse. i know that river like the back of my hand and if you thought thare was no steelheads in june, you were fishin the wrong spot that is all i can say.:coolgleam

Okay guys! This is getting too personal for these forums. Opinions and experiences vary from person to person, year to year, and even from day to day.

Take care of your differences via PM.
