Fished smallwood today, threw everything in the box at them with no takers. Finally got tired of casting and decided to try trolling. Crawler harnesses, nothing! Husky jerks, nothing! Experimented with various other lures, still nothing. Finally tried the old faithful, hot-n-tots. After rigging them up, dropping them back behind the boat and bang, a 20 inch largemouth. Quickly threw him back in the lake, set the lines and bang, another fish. This one takes quite a bit of drag and gets my line down into the seaweed. After backing the motor over top of the fish I apply alot of pressure with rod and the break the seaweed free. Suddenly the fish takes of pulling a large amount of cabbage with him. After a few more seconds I manage to land the fish, a 38 inch northern! Just shy of my personal quest for a 40 incher so I quickly release this fish as well. The next hour produced two undersized pike which also were released. I never liked trolling but I guess it payed off today!:)
