Well the boys and I made the trip to Higgins on Saturday 02-09. It was the first time we had been on the lake and we had high exspectations form all of the reading we had done. We ended up keeping 19 perch 8' to 10' but we had on that was almost 13". If you ask my yungest son (the one that caught it) it was almost 15". I have to say it is a nice fishery alot of fish being caught in sperts (spelling) had about 5 to 6' of good ice.

I took a friend, who had never been ice fishing and only fished one other time in his life, out to Higgins on 2/17. We ended up with 78 perch between 8 and 10 inches, with a couple around 12. What a blast. 55 FOW, mud bottom, everything we brought up had a mouth full of minnows. That's my report. Can't tell you exactly where we were because of a promise. I understand, though, that these conditions produced well around the lake. Fishfinder showed fish occasionally stacked 5 feet up from the bottom. As soon as the sinker hit, we realed up, not waiting for a "bite", knowing there was one on. Even caught one Lake Trout while the bait was going down. On the "fishing" side, though, I drilled 40 holes before we found the 2 that produced. Ended up catching 80% of the fish between noon and 3. Wish I would have found that spot earlier, then I wouldn't have been up until 10PM cleaning fish (it was a 2 1/2 hour drive). Next week though....... :D

The name of the access is the part the guy that gave it to me asked to be kept confidential. Can't betray that trust, or my source of information will dry up. I have to think that, if you gave me information into a good spot, that even you wouldn't want me blabbing about it on the internet.
