SW Piers Info?

All,

I was wondering if you could help me out. I'll be in the New Buffalo / St. Joe area the last week of July. Is there a good pier for perching in this area? The end of July is usually good perch weather, right? Also, any chance of hitting some Steelhead from the piers during this time?

How high up is the pier from the water - Do I need a net with a 4 ft handle or the extra long handle?

A 4' handle will wok in St. Joe, but a longer one would be better or a homemade extension would make life easier.

Perch are hit and miss depending on the conditions as are steelhead. Yes there will be perch available, but it may not be bucketloads. There should still be some steelhead around as well, but it will depend heavily on the water temperature.
