OK here is the story. I just found out from my uncle there is land for sale right next to him. My parents want to look into it but there is only one problem. There is no deer there and I want land with deer on it. Does anyone have any ideas to if we did by this land I could attract deer or how I could perswade my parents to by land with deer on it. Please help.

Stelman,I am sorry if I offended you. I guess being a father of teens you get real tired of kids thinking the only reason for your existence is to make THEM "kids" happy!I am sure your parents are looking down the road for a retirement locale. And there is nothing better then having family close by.Just stop and think about what they want and what there needs are now and in later years. Just MY 2 cents.

Where around Grayling are they looking? Both of my parents grew up in Grayling and we still visit on a regular basis. I have a hard time believing that there are no deer around there. They even see deer very near town, out behind the Sheriffs Dept, also see deer near the Guard airport. We see deer out past the DNR fish hatchery. I would think that they are there they just haven't seen them.

Stelmon,
Hey buddy you may not believe me, but I have seen deer numerous times in our good old city of Troy! I know that some properties has more deer than others, but I would think Grayling would be a great place. My grandparents and a couple of my uncles and aunts both have places in Rose City and Lewiston, just about 40 minutes east of Grayling, and there is some good public hunting property close by. There may be nothing like hunting on your own property, but there are plenty of opportunities close by. Hey, if you are going to be close to grayling, we should get together and go fishing some time on the AuSable and Manistee rivers.

If I could find work in my field that area, I would buy a home in Grayling in a heartbeat, and fish every day!

My family had some property outside of grayling and I shot plenty of deer off it. And, Amos already mentioned that yoou have some of the best flyfishing in the country for the off season. If your parents do purchase the land, you can put the effort in to making it better deer habitat. Plant a food plot or two(can't bait), thin out the jack pines so that the mast bearing oaks can flourish, knock over a couple cedar trees for the deer to eat. Do this on your uncles land as well and you will have more than enough deer to shoot at. Good luck anyway.

stelmon,
you could put in a small food plot of alfalfa or clover that would act as an attractant to the deer. that might get them on the property. don't forget deer like to have cover nearby to get away from danger, so it would be best to locate it near some type of woods or bush area. you can probably email Tom over at www.deerclover.com (http://www.deerclover.com) as he is always helping out people with food plot questions. put a post over in the food plot forum and I'll bet you will get a lot of help with it.
good luck.
