Report on Fairhaven 2/15/02

I drove through Fair Haven yesterday. No one out of the DNR site, ice looked totally unsafe even from the road.
THen went to the RAFT. About a dozen guy out on the Ice most not more than 50 yards out. One guys was out past the Island. Saw a guy pull up a couple in the few minutes I was there.

Was that any of you guys out there. If so how did you do? Anyone planning to go out there anytime soon?

I was out on a canal off of Jefferson Sunday morning. The ice conditions varied. It was not safe in some areas. You had to be very careful around the edges near shore or seawalls. The center of some canals were open water, and some still had up to 6 inches of hard ice.

I cought about 35 perch, 6 gills, and 12 crappie. The crappie were huge, with 12 filling 1/2 a five gallon bucket. The perch were between 8-10 inches. Generally, the fish were not hitting hard as you would expect for this time of year. If we have ice next weekend, they should really turn on. Big, "if" though. <----<<<
