View Full Version : Surprised by the lack of boat traffic on LSC today.

I had to head over to H****n's Island and get my sister-in-laws pontoon running today so she can put it in the water. She had a little trouble with it last year so I told her that I'd see what I could do to get it running before we dropped it in. She's right on the middle channel and has a boat house with electric winch so it's not a big deal but I'd rather work on the mill on land than on the water. ;) It was no big deal really. I threw a set of plugs in it for her and checked a couple of things and she fired right up. They'll probably drop her in tomorrow. We didn't do it today because there was another boat in the house and we couldn't get it moved until tomorrow. Anyway, I noticed on the way out there I was on 29 about 2:30 or so and I was surprised at the lack of boats on the bay when I got my first glimpse of it. Every time I got another view of the water I saw hardly any boats! I know it was a bit breezy out there today but overall it seemed like a decent afternoon. When we got to her place we were there until about 8:00 and in the five or so hours we were there I was shocked at the lack of boat traffic on the middle channel. It's usually a zoo out there on the weekends. Sounds like it was a bit busy earlier from some of the fishing reports but late afternoon and early evening it was dead out there from what I saw.

Have a great weekend folks!

John

LOL !

I think the censoring has gotten a little bit out of hand. I just made a post about a trip to my SIL's place today on the island. And the A R S E got censored out. LOL :lol:

I hope I haven't offended anyone. ;)

Take care,

John

I am just wondering why that would be censored out? Don't want to start anything it's just a question i'm newer to the forum and trying to learn the rules.

Ski Head,

I think it's just a programming thing. I'm pretty sure that there's a filter involved that automatically censors any offending language in posts. It probably also contains different iterations of some common words that people use to get around filters. I'm not mad or anything. I just thought it was funy that the filter picked out the "a r s e" and decided to replace them with asterisks. :) It's just one of those coincidences.

It is a recent phenemonenon and will be repaired some time in the future. When? when the fish stop biting and the boss finds time.LOL

Yeah I'm sure it'll be handled ESOX. It's not too big of a deal. Hey I just had a thought. What happens if we want to report on Cass lake? ;)

John

Hey that one worked! Just a glitch I guess

Nothing. Now, it might be interesting to see what happens if you were to report on that lake off M-65 just south of Fletchers.........

My son and I were heading back in from the Firecracker when we noticed the same thing. Hardly any boat traffic at all. Gas Prices? Too windy? Everybody went Up North?

Come to think of it, not much traffic on this site either.

Crocker road launch seemed pretty dead yesterday. I hit the water at 6:30, and there were about 20 trailers in the lot. When I came off at 10:30, there were less then 30. Most days when i go down there that late in the morn, I have to go over to Metro cause crocker is full. I also didn't see any large groups of boats anywhere on hte lake. That was surprising. Fiishing was slow (looking for Perch) but still a good day to be on the water. wind didn't pick up till after I left..

Selfridge launch was empty compared to a normal Saturday. Left at noon and it was way less than half full. Normally its about full by then.

Both my sons came up yesterday and it took both of them most of the day just to get from southern Michigan to northern Michigan. One was on I-75...for a while...the other on 27...for a while...both of them ended up taking state highways almost all the way up here. Bumper to bumper, and mostly dead stop, all the way north to Grayling where 27 and I-75 come together.

Not only is this a holiday weekend, but, with the 4th of July being on Tuesday, this give a lot of people a 4 day weekend.
Then on top of that, they might have the option of taking 3 days off (wed-thu-fri) and get to make it a vacation.
