i cant think of anything more annoying than the sound of bugs buzzing around my ears while im trying to listen while sitting in my treestand. Is there any type of prodcut that you can put in your tree or hang from your tree to reduce the amount of bugs around. that will not alarm deer. i've heard of dryer sheets but i think the deer would like the smell of those to much. any suggestions are worth looking into... thanks alot

Ack, Have you used the thermacell? I'm planning on buying one to test out while camping this summer. My son and I drew first period bear permits this year and I know bugs will be an issue. The first two weeks in October can be a struggle as well.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I bought one on clearance this spring but have not used it yet.

What I have seen posted on a couple of southern websites the guys down there will not go in the woods with out one.

There can be some decent deals on ebay. Search from home page for "thermacell".

While Thermocells are effective I wouldn't say they are odorless. There is very little odor, but an odor never the less! I can definately smell the chemical pad once it begins to heat up. Now maybe that odor won't bother deer or because it is heated and you are in a tree it will continue to rise, but I know if I can smell them so can deer if it drifts past them.

I've posted several times about the Thermacell. We bought our second one this year and I wouldn't be without it. They work, plain and simple. For instance, this morning I was changing oil in several things (atv, tiller, mower, etc.) and had to get the unit out. No more skeeters then.

As for the odor, very, very little. Cost $22 in Cabelas. Enough for 12 hours use. Get the big refill kit too and you'll be all set for the rest of this year and the start of next year.

Mind over matter, or use a thermal cell.

Yes, I have used one and it does work well, as long as it is not very windy. If it is, you will need to place it upwind slightly.

As far as the odor goes, I have not had it spook any deer, and everyone that I have heard of using them has never had a problem with the odor spooking deer either.
