Ok,

Read the other thread on tip-ups; dacron, barrel swivel with 12#/20# leader seems like a typical choice.
#6/#8 trebels or #4/#2 single hook.

Would hook color make any difference?

I use chrome #6 trebels and think I should try something else, not getting very many flags on my setup. I primilarly hook the bait just in front of the dorsal.

Think coooooold! !

I've heard that red hooks improve your odds. Not sure if it looks like an injured minnow because of it, but it seems to make sense. I wish they made trebble hooks in fire-tiger perch color.

I had great luck with colored hooks this year on trout and pike. I started using single hooks that are painted chartreuse. I hook the bait in front of the dorsal. Gamakatsu or something like that makes the hooks. I cant be sure of how big a difference it makes but I like that extra little bit of color. I think it destroys the baits natural camoflage but it is not a huge overwhelming show of unnatural color. Especially good if your minnow gets into or near the weeds.

Ive had good sucess in using white/silver, and chartreuse salmon spoons(weightless ones) tied about 8 inches above your sucker minnow on the main line. The spoon adds flash and added attraction when the minnow swims around...good luck:D

try using smaller trebles hooks in the tail if your not getting many hookups anyway... go thin storng wire for leader or fireline. Im talking #14 hooked in the top of the tail first part thats meaty enough to hold the hook... give more action to the minnow and doesnt weigh them down like big hooks will.
