I've had a deer hide in the freezer since last Oct. I want to get it tanned to put it on the wall. How long can I have it there until it's not good anymore to tan? Thanks, Mark

You shouldn't have a problem with tanning it, but depending on how well is was salted down when you put it away you may not be able to have it tanned with the hair on any more.
Hair-on tanning requires a very fresh and/or well preserved hide in order to prevent subsequant hair slippage.

You should never salt a hide then freeze it, think about what salt does when you put it on ice. If you have your deer hide in 2 garbage bags it will be good for years.
