We will be having a St. Joe Fishing League event held on Saturday, July 8th and the weigh in will be held at the “Lodge”. It will be $25 per boat with a 9 rod and 3 man DNR limit weighing your best (1) man DNR limit. 10 points per fish + weight.
This tournament will have a kicker!!!!!!
There will be a 10 point bonus for bring in at least (1) perch. You are allowed to catch a 3 man limit on perch and weigh your best (1) man DNR limit for perch. The 10 bonus points + weight will be added to your over all score.
We will be paying out for:
$5 per boat for big fish
50% for 1st place
30% for 2nd place
20% for 3rd place
Start time will be no earlier then 5:30am and pull lines at 1:00pm. Weigh-in will be around 2:30pm.
If we catch enough perch I would like to do a perch fry after the weigh-in if we don’t have any perch then I should have some fish that I can use and I’ll take what ever you can donate.
Start planning for this outing now we only have 3 weeks to go.
If I missed anything or I’ll not clear on something, let me know.

Look out GOBIES here I come!!!!!! :dizzy:
I will be in on this one. Here's a kicker for me...I already promised to take a guy from work fishing on that day....so, I'll be taking 2 guys who have NEVER fished lake michigan before as my crew. They (father and 17yr old son) are from Evansville, IN and have only fished for bass. Neither one has ever fought a salmon, and the son just started fishing the last 2 years for bass. I think I'll have my hands full on this trip! :yikes: Well, afterall, isn't that what this is all about...getting new people hooked on fishing?! I already know, I'll be donating my $25 to the pot, but hey, what is one to do... someone has to not win... By the way, if I'm struggling that day, I would appreciate any help you all could give me to put these guys on fish. I don't want to troll 6 hours and go 1 for ? and turn them off of salmon fishing forever. BUT at least if the salmon aren't biting, we can go for perch and prolly get them a few good eating morsels from the big pond.
 Hey Steve, is there a 10 pt bonus for taking a newbie out?...how about taking 2 newbies?

sORRY gUYS, i WAS REALLY HOPING TO BE IN ON THIS ONE, But it falls on the same weekend as our annual Lake St. Clair walleye trip swap, so I will have to miss it. And my fellow BC steelheaders will probably be out too, cuz we need alot of extra boats right now for the event. Sorry Don, you will have to go at this one alone. I thought the other day when I looked at the dates it was the following weekend.
Remember, no talking about spanky, when he aint around!:D You kids have fun!

I plan on being there Steve. Just need a place to park the rig Friday night and scratch up a crew. Anybody over there looking for a ride? Haven't fished with the General this year so maybe I can talk him into driving down on Saturday.
Question: Is this still fun fishing or is there a lot of competition. Only reason I ask is I'm really never over there so help on places to start would be great. If I have a better chance of guys giving me some info on a non tourney day then I'd rather fish then. Not really concerned about being in the money. Just having a good day catching with friends on one of the limited days I can make it to Lk. MI.
Where's Adjusted??????

Mark is out of town up north that weekend.
Tommy this is going to be a fun event and I hope you make it down and find a crew...there are usually people looking for a ride-put up a post if you need to.
I'm planning on pre-fishing Friday with the crew I'm fishing with and will be more than happy to give you some direction-you know this league isn't that competitive...it's about fun, learning, friends, and catching fish!!

... We will be fishing my boat this time!!
Hey Don,
You still fishing YOUR boat this time?!
Ummm, yeah, I'm still in with a crew of newbies to the big pond. My last 2 couldn't make it due to a death in the family...so these 2 will replace them. Neither one has fished salmon on the big pond recently...the one guy fished last for them back in the early 70's down by cook plant when you could anchor up right on the discharge for coho's.

Yeah, Don is still fishing his boat-his girlfriend is going to crew for him...he still has to check with Steve to see if he has enough room at the lodge for his camper though...
J/K Don...hope you get your steering cable fixed in time for the weekend. If you don't and need a ride you can crew on the "Homewrecker" if need be.

I know this is kind of late but if anyone needs a rider for this event I would like to come along. I have never fished St. Joe and would like to ride along with someone before I try it myself. I'd be more than willing to pitch in for gas and supply beverages.
