At this moment they are just bringing the vehicle that went down in Grenndegutt Bay at Cass lake out of the mind stimulating drink! And right at the river mouth good clue? They opted not to use a helicopter and the ice would not support the weight of the vehicle coming up so their using + 200yds of cable to bring it in via underwater "cruise control" literly along the bottom through 40ft plus depths. The cable is being cut through the ice by friction and a chain saw. Eventually they will cut a hole large enough to bring it out right at the ramp screwing up the our ice access!

I just saw a story about it on Fox2 news.
Apparently the guys was drunk and had a little "accident".
I don't think it was an icefisherman. "THANK GOD !"
But they did say that SOB left his dog in the truck to die.
Apparently some witnesses saved the dog. The guy took off running but they caught him a short time later.
I'd hate to be getting the bill for this fiasco !

Cangl: Just seen it on channel 4 news. I really can,t believe with all the warm weather and wind we have had that someone would take a truck or anything out on the ice. I went out to stoney sat. with my wife and it was safe in the bays and parts of the big lake. But after Sat. we had alot of warm days and wind.
Would really like to see a follow-up from the news on this one and see this nut. I agree with "The Wale", this guy was just dumb or "Flying High" on funny cigarettes. Don,t feel sorry for him. He is a lucky man he didn,t go down with it.

Dont say that Bud!!!!!!!

All that has been paid for already.Thats what those guys get paid to do.

-Or-

Maybe since he was an idiot and not fishing he should get charged????:D :D

Dont bite my head off guys, I was just referring to the big charge vs. no charge debate that we had a while back.

Seriously I hope they have the report on later tonite, cause I missed the news.

Joel,
I wasn't referring to the charge/don't charge for rescue thing.
I believe that when you put a vehicle through the ice, you're charged for the extraction AND the DEQ gets involved and charges you for "environmental damage". THAT cost could be MAJOR !

All I can say is that if he was driving drunk and put the truck there, he deserves EVERY penalty he gets !

True enough!

I wasnt really thinking about that aspect, I am sure that it will be costly.Reminds me of a case near my place up north where a guy was running his four wheeler up and down the beach. When the property owners complained, the police came. He drove off down the beach and ended up in the water (wrecked) with gas and oil leaking everywhere. I know he got some big charges!!!!

So if the guy in the truck had actually needed to be rescued should he be charged??? Just kidding.;)

Common sense should over ride blocking the ramp, after all there a couple of thousand other free outdoor people who use public access 365 days a year. The thought of Oakland County and State boat ramps being as screwed up as the Detroit river access has become would sicken me. The truth is that the most obvious remedy to ignorance,
is fate!!!!

If he was drunk he can be charged for every cost incurred. The same applies to any drunk driving accident. They pay for the tow truck driver's time, police, fire, ems and any utility crews not to mention the DEQ.

Glad to see that my hard earned tax dollars, and rightful license fees have been put to good use. The jerk-off in question really needs his head examined ! Hopefully this wizard never went on to pro-create,cuz his offspring sure won't know which way to turn ! Even the dog should be ashamed. I sure hope this putz WASN'T fishing . It's really too bad that we,the sporstsmen, have to take the rap for this! Label this twit a liability.Just my take>.....out.... BG
