The contents of this post were edited by it's author due to the situation having been rectified by following the advice of the manufacture - who makes a fine product and I for one WILL BUY ANOTHER of these units as soon as my play money recovers to the point that i can sneak it into the budget.

The night vision pics are awesome, to say the least i am totally impressed by the trigger time - it took a picture of me at a slow jog in total darkness and while I am slightly blurred in the pic, it is awesome that it caught me that fast and still got the shot off.

I still have no idea what it was about this unit that made it inoperable when i first tried to use it, but i was told to use a different set of batteries and a new compact flash card and for some reason this made a difference and it works perfectly.

Non-typical did a nice job on this cam - job well done.

Your hard feelings are understandable. Whenever a fellow shells out big dollars and gets junk, he has a right to be upset. However, as for the point of testing the equipment, as far as I am aware, no company will test each and every item that is produced. They instead will check 1 out of every x number of that product that is being produced.

As for Cuddeback, it is difficult to understand why they did not do more for you. I too received a defective unit, but they did fix it. Yes, I could have returned the unit to where it was purchased (Cabela) but chose to get it fixed instead. Hopefully all is well and so far, so good.

Hope you get the problem solved and are happy with your next unit.

I feel your pain zero. About 5 years ago I paid $429 for a Camtrakker, that at the time was supposed to be one of the best. It worked great for a few months and then quit working. I called the company and they said to send it in and they would fix the problem. So I sent it to the company in Louisiana and it took them 3 months to get it back to me. And you can guess which months I was without it, Oct- Dec. So after cooling down I took it back out to the woods and it worked properly, for about 6 months! Long story short, over a period of two years I sent it in 3 different times and the fourth time it quit working I described the symptoms to one of thier techs over the phone and he said " oh yeah, we've had that problem lately. You'll have to send it in and have us replace the camera itself, for $160". Yes it was 2 years old and out of warranty but the damn thing never worked right longer than 6 months!!! I wrote a letter to the company and "expressed my dissatisfaction" and heard nothing in response. So needless to say I now have a $429 dollar paper weight. I went out and bought a $50 Stealthcam and have never had a problem. It just seems like a company could build a reliable camera for that kind of money. Or at least replace the thing when someone has as many problems as I did.

Sorry to hear that about the new cuddeback, not really but...

The IR lighting can be VERY intense indoors. In fact within 5-15 ft it will blast the room and you may not see anything but white. The cam could have had a bad reaction to this and may not have saved the photo as it was "corrupted". Our cam has a problem with that also. We are working on a stick-on diffuser so that it can be used indoors at close range.

I would try it outdoors to see if you get a picture. If not there are many other great cams out there that take no-flash pictures. I can think of one in particular.:D

Hope this helps,

First of all I'd like to say that my rant at the beginning of this post was out of character for me (wipes brow). :bonk:

I was just obviously broken hearted and disappointed like a kid who opens an empty candy wrapper.

I didn't mean to urinate all over Non-typical's product line and i'm sure that somehow i will get what i wanted - though i wont have it tonight like i'd planned. Sorry Cuddeback - my words were rude and unethical.

I did not take into consideration that most manufacturers dont test every item that goes out....for the record though i wouldn't care what it would add to the price of the item due to manpower necessity, if it was my company you can bet your ***** i would test every last one.

I also did not take into consideration that the cam might not have liked the close range and dark conditions inside the house.

Now i'm just waiting for darkness outside so i can see if this was all a big misunderstanding or if it really needs to go back.

BOY WILL I GET THE *****HOLE OF THE DAY AWARD IF IT TURNS OUT THAT THE CAM IS FINE hahahahahahaha. I truly hope i was wrong.

Aw, come on zeronine. You are being much too hard on yourself. If what you did or said earns you that award, there are thousands, no millions of us other guys who would certainly be way ahead of you in the voting and I just might be a shoo in winner of it myself.

Hope the rest of the summer goes good for you. Enjoy.

Zeronine, I am interested in their new camera but was wondering which flash card and what batteries they told you to use.
