Any current information on bluegill activity on Wabasis? My fishing teacher and I fished there quiet a few years ago and we caught some awesome sized gills. Am wanting to return to try it again. Any current information would be appreciated.

I was just there yesterday with my daughter and we could NOT get any to bite. We managed to catch a couple of perch off the beds though as well as a few Rock Bass. We threw wax worms and redworms at them and couldn't get even one.

They are there, the guy that posted up above and I fished a tourney there a few weekends agoa and someone caught a 2# Crappie out of there.

A 2# crappie!!! Holy crap. I bet that was a blast to catch, I can only imagine. Will try to get my teacher, (sfw1960) out there to check it out soon. Have tried getting back to this lake for over a year and my teacher seems to have his sites set on Walleyes, which there is nothing wrong with that, but I like to fish for gills and perch too! Thanks for the insight. Have a fantastic day. :)

Hey Ladygill.... do me (and many others!) a favor if you can ever get lamo to take you to Wabasis: if you catch a rock bass... take it home. I don't care what you do with it at home, eat it, feed it to the cats, use it for fertilizer, whatever. Dang things piss me off!! They hit hard just like a bass and then piss me off when my senko goes flying off into the water as I am forced to reel the stupid little things in.

i've always caught fish there... probably 4 of the biggest crappie i've seen in recent years... i just don't like the 7:00 pm speed limit... my boat doesn't like idle speed when its warm out.

SO, I'm getting mixed reviews on the consumption of El Basso Rocko, the Rock Bass. My daughter caught about 4 of them and I brought them home to eat. Now I'm wondering if those might NOT be the fish to get her started on. She seems to want to eat the fish we catch, but if they are nasty, then I might as well turn them into fertalizer. I heard others say they are tasty.

For the record, I'm not fond of any fish that is strong in flavor, like Largemouth or Salmon. I like Pik, Walleye, gills, crappies. Lucky for me, I know the biggest vacume sealed pack is the one with the Rock Bass.

Justin, the no highspeed time is actually 7:30 on Wabasis. Oh, and the lake speed limit is 35 mph at all times!!!

I think it is a personal preference to whether they taste good or not. Personally I do not care for them. Some people do like them. All I can say is.........try them and then form your own opinion on them.

Frustrating Lake. Was there on Saturday for Bass. Caught all the 12-13 inch you could want. Very Very Very busy lake. Especially fishermen not just speedboats. Every 100 feet there was a boat. Caught two nice pike and one 14.50 inch long bass. Gotta think outside of the box for bass on this lake.

Didnt you say something about frying up carp nuggets with Mr. Ed? I think you need to go have a carp dinner if you want me to eat rock bass.

I enjoy C&R of Large mouth bass on Wabasis and the gill and perch fishing as well. The bass are a blast to catch and yes the speedboats are there and they are very close, but if you have great balance in your boat you can have a great day of fishing on that lake.

Have some Walleye soaking in the fridge at the moment.............I like to gill and perch fish. That old blue barge wasn't named "Perch Pirates" for nothin!!! I think its your fault he never takes me gill or perch fishin anymore.........Ever since you turned him on to that secret spot his mind has become warped on walleye!!! LMAO! Don't take this wrong, I love Walleye and cherish each one he brings home, but I have my needs too!!! LMAO.

We found the bass just to late in the day. I would say we had about 6 2-3 lbers on the line but they decided to stay in the water.
