Had to work a lot harder for a two man ticket yesterday, eight fish between 16" - 19", one at 22" and the last at 25" (5.25 lbs.:) ). Damn wind, I've had enough of this three-four footer (throw in an occasinal five !) crap out there. All the weather sites predicting low wind in the early am and then increasing slightly after noon. B.S. !!! 180 degree opposite, SURPRISE !!! Bouncing in the morning and then she calms down after noon, go figure. Anyway, trolled around in several of the usual spots, anywhere from 15' - 20', pulling a variety pack of colors on harnesses, Hot-N-Tots, Rapalas etc. Did our best on the ever popular purple irredescent and black/gold. :D Sail boat bouy area was our best. Until the next time................ :fish2:

We left the dock around 9 or so in my father's boat. Nice to fish in those wave conditions with a much bigger boat. Anyway, caught a four man limit in about 6 or so hours of fishing. Trolled in and around the plug with all the usual colors (copper, chrome/green, perch, orange, purple) producing fish. Had to switch to plastic because we went through 4 dozen crawlers. Sure did get nice in the afternoon and started to pick back up as we were heading in.

As I mentioned in another post, the Bay and how it's laid out almost creates it's own weather. I recall one day I went out from Quanicassee, past Callahan Reef, over Coreon bar to a place a few of us charter guys call the breaks. Man it was dead calm out there fishing all day with my clients. Yet I kept picking up chatter about how rough it was. I thought it was skip from around the point on Lake Huron. Well, on the way back in, just after crossing the Reef, I could see something strange in front of us. What it was, was a distinct line of wind hitting the water as clear as a curtain across this section of Bay. We went from flat to 3 footers in 50 yards and the wind only got stronger as we hit the Quanicassee channel. Guy's at Lindys marina were telling us all how brave we were for fishing in this stuff. That's how selectively weird it can get on the Saginaw Bay.

Good job Whale. Tried the purples, black and gold, and quite a few others tots and harness's. Just could not get anything going at any speed either.:dizzy: Then hit the river and picked up a few in one pass back to the ramp. Should have started trolling earlier and concentrated on the area we picked up the fish at. Trolling the river shows yah a lot of good stucture you might have ran right by.
