Going to be in oscoda for a wk in late june and wondered if there were any charter boats for taking kids out ? There used to be one up there but the name escapes me. Anywhere in that area would be fine .TIA:)

I called on one two years ago in Tawas and the lady on the phone told me, "Well, we'll take you out on a boat ride but you won't catch any perch." :yikes: Nice sales job.

I guess I'm glad she was honest but it sure didn't shine a good light on Lake Huron perch fishery. Perhaps things have changed now for the better.

You might want to try the warmwater forum for a better response. I know there used to be a boat that ran out from browns landing just north of singing bridge and headed twards charities. Hasn't been great business in recent years, but I think it still operates.

Just stay at home and go out on Lake St. Clair a friend of my dad's, my dad and I went last summer and slayed them. We landed over 250 perch between 8-12 (that was the average) not too mention we also pounded smallies the entire time. Overall, we probably landed over 400 fish in 5 hours of work. If you are thinking about getting them out for day I highly recomend Lake St. Clair. I can even try and find the guide we used if you want, I know they launched out of Harson's Island.

That was Browns I'm sure! They quit chartering and rent their boat out for parties now.....I don't know of any others left in the area now. Not worth pursuing in that area...

You might want to try and find a boat and fish Van Etten lake in Oscoda for perch. Can be pretty good at times. You'll catch fish to keep kids busy, even if alot of little ones. Try wigglers and minnows. Also the foote pond above the dam should be good for bluegills.

Ralph you are a better man than I am I don't think I have ever pulled out a perch bigger than 4" out of Van Ettan . Not to say it doesn't happen just never to me...

Foote is good for gillls just be prepared to sort through a bunch of Rock Bass along the way.

Not the greatest for me either, usually little ones, but have only fished it a few times, and that was in winter. Did see a guy about 30 yrds away pull one up that went 13" Had to take a look at that one. But the action would keep some kids busy having a great time, and thats what its all about.
