Did some searching and didn't come up with anything definitive.
Looking to fish in Ontario, north of Kingston this summer. I have a good handle on mandatory safety equipment, but what do I need to get past Canadian customs? Thanks.

need a current and legal registration from any State. Customs has never bothered us about our boat. MNR will though (on the water). Make sure you have a bailing device, floating rope, approved PFD's and a noise maker (whistle is OK) while you are on the water.
Also next year, I believe, you must have proof of passing a boater safety class.

I have taken a few boats over there. Kept everything the same as here. Never been checked on the water or at the border. Never prooved I had a BSC. Not saying they wouldn't have asked if stopped.
BTW, you cannot have any Open alcohol on the boat while fishing. Only when you are at the dock and will be up for the nite is it legal.

Registration is all that I have ever had to show. An attorney that I used to work for told me that he had taken an old 15 HP outboard to a permanent camp that he belonged to. 15 years later when he retired and sold his interest in the camp he was bringing back the old motor and because he had no paperwork to prove it was his, Canadian Customs kept the motor. Also if you have a 12 ga. flare gun in your safety kit leave it in the States.
