I have a 14 ft tracker grizzly with a 18 horse and would like to do some fishing with my son, I live a stones throw from selfrige. Not wanting to get swamped on the big water, where should I go and whats should I be fishing for.
I've duck hunted off deckers, Harsens, muscamoot etc. but never fished them.
Thanks!

The bass fishing should be getting ready to heat up right off Selfridge in that whole area of the bay. I need to check up on this whole catch/release thing. Regular season opens in 2 weeks?? Not sure how close you can get because of security reasons, but we would just drift from that break-wall and cast crankbaits and drift big minnows with a bobber just off bottom and have a field day catching smallies. Short run from the launch too.
I hear the walleyes are starting to heat up in some areas you should have no problem getting to. Just check the other threads.

you could also launch out of algonac and you are clsoe to th south, north and middle channels. all are good for walleye drifting or trolling harnesses.

Perfect size and power for the flats by Decker's. Even in the dog days of summer you can pull limits of perch out of the reeds Its a fun way to fish. either use a slip bobber or long cane pole. One of the tricks is to find springs. the cold water draws the perch.

If you want to catch bass off selfrige you dont need to launch a boat. I fished there a couple of times and seen many bass caught. Good numbers of perch off that wall too.
