Sorry for the late report. Have been out of town for a few days. Anyway,
got up early last Sun. and had to wait for the weather to clear up before we
ventured very far. Plans were to drop down to Sag. Bar and then work from
there. Due to the weather we stayed close to home and that proved to be a winner. 30 fow straight out of the mouth and maybe just a tick north. 3/4 paws,12" leader with matching crawler harness, 80 to 100 back. Purple and
gold was working well. Also did well on a bottom bouncer w/ spoon/crawler
combo, 1oz back 75'. Speed was dead slow-.5 to1 on gps. We did very our speed on purpose and that seemed to work for us. No big fish just nice eaters and yes, they were VERY tasty! We fried our brains on Sun with sun not to mention the heat and bitting flies so we did not go out Mon. Must be
getting old. Weather permitting will be out there Sun. Be safe not sorry.DC

Good job on the fish. Last weekend was great for most anglers out on the Bay. Seemed like anywhere you put a hook in the water you'd catch the 'eyes. I would like to find some schools of baitfish though, didn't mark much in those. I would think the bigger fish would be chowing on them. It is great to see a slew of small Walleyes, for the future, but where are the bigger fish ? (I know there is plenty of them out there somewhere !) I just don't subscribe to the bigger fish heading for deep water yet, the Bay is not anywhere near the temps to send 'em deep. Good luck to all, I'll be out this Sunday (4th), "Whale" on 68.

Whale,

I don't think the big fish have all moved deep yet. I feel that there are so many smaller fish out there that they are beating the hogs to the hook. Just a little info for you. All of are bigger fish so far have come of the lures close to the bottom. Folks are getting bigger fish in the deeper water, but not as many. I guess you have to make the choice of quanity or quality. I fish mainly for eaters unless I have someone along that just wants to try for big fish.

Joe R. - just can't subscribe to the little 'eyes beating the big 'eyes to the bait" theory either. I know the numbers are way up right now for the size being caught, but dang. I typically keep a bait or two hugging bottom all the time, pretty well known the bigger fish are TYPICALLY under the smaller. Just can't seem to find 'em, myself anyway. I have no trouble at all bringing home a meal or two worth of 'eater' size 'eyes, just love the feel of a big 'eye (8 - 10 lb'er) shakin' that big head all ticked off at the end of my line that's all. :D The search continues.......;) :fish2: Good luck to all !

When people start complaining that they are catching too many eaters there really isn't much to complain about is there?
