Had a charter today on the Titt. Wasn't real sure about what to expect as the water was cloudy and high. We did not tear-um up like we have been doing, but did manage about 25 smallies (one 21 incher) 2 BIG whites, and several cat's and carps that tore us up. Water temp 70 degrees. And the area where we could get a bite at all was in about a 6X8 foot piece of shoreline where the smallies were stacked, pushing pretty large shiners into a corner.

This post gives me the itch. I haven't been fishing on the Flint in almost 4 weeks and hearing about the big smallmouth has my attention. One thing I have wondered about is why the white bass don't make it all the way up here? It just seems natural to me that if the walleye spawn here that the whites would show up too. Any ideas on why that's not the case?

Robin.
I haven't seen the multitude of Whites I used to see up near the spillway in 2 years either. Don't have any ideas why. Can't be because theres no baitfish, as the guy were snagging big blue shiners today on their jig hooks.

The Cats we busting my Jig and Minnow offering as I lifted and bounced it on the bottom, as it drifted with the current. The guys using the bobbers only caught 2 Cats, wheras I caught about 9. And they were decent size for both smoking and steaking. The carp hit this same offering jiging straight down below the boat. The last one was a certified 15+ pounder. I broke him off on purpose after eye-balling him.
Speaking of Carp. Did you guys hear that one of those (Big Head) Grass carp was arrowed in early May on Lake Erie. Dennis Russian, 59, of New Alexandria shot the monster with his bow, and it weighed 54 pounds 4 ounces and is now being considered for the new state record. But how did Mr. BIG HEAD get in there?

Actually the articles said it was a Grass carp. But I thought those were kinda the same thing. Both are the Asian versions that grow to monster sizes.
