i doubt it, with gas at $3 a gallon i cant see anyone making the run out to the ditch while everyone is pulling limits close in at metro and the 400 club.

the biggest upside to going out there is the peace you get from not having to dodge boats in and around metro. But to go out there when the eyes are thick around Metro...you better know how to fish that area!

:fish: Made the mistake of running out there Sunday morning.
Water was nice and clear but no fish. No weeds either.
Looks like it might be a couple of weeks before the fish show up there. Seems like they are still in the SCR and in close.

I've been fishing 28 or the buoy up river of the lighthouse the past 15 days or so. Its nice to be the only boat in sight for miles. The whole time fishing, we didn't light them on fire but If you hit 2 fish and threw a cork, you could work the fish and limit for 3 w/in an hr or so. Problem was finding the school. one time they are on the edge of the chl. the next in the rif-raf at the edge, next a few 100 yards in Canada? No fish were huge but all were eaters.

I fished into Canada 7 or so days ago. Not a hit on eyes. I did hit a few nice size perch but not enough to throw anchor.

Today by 28 the rain changed everything. There were warm and cold spots or current that grouped up the surface Darbee. I think the change in water temps moved the bait fish? We worked 3 hrs for 6 fish. I moved towards the firecracker- one buoy away. lots of small perch and silver bass. I did see 2 boats working the perch grounds towards the firecracker. They only stuck around a few hrs. (either they limited or didn't do well).

That is about it on the Mid lake. Bumblebee and traditional yellow/orn. worked with harnesses along with purp-des raps and silver flatfish with a yellow/orn back . Plugs out produced on Eyes

With the changes, I'm hitting the dumps area with the bride Friday AM.

Look for me. I'll be the only boat in an area getting fish or not getting fish--either way I'll be alone..;) . love this time of year:) Good luck all I'll be on 68 boat name AWOL, south end of the lake. PS the fish don't bite until 9 am on my boat. :p

Good to see you getting some action out there Ed...once the area close by slows, then we'll make the jump.....but you know us City workers aren't rich so I'll have to save on some fuel now and get'em while there close!

Would the dumping grounds be a good place to fish for muskies Saturday morning. My son in sists that we have to go there first thing Saturday morning. I am more inclined to try the spillway and Clin ton River.

from the #8 on the map, the firecracker is a big red and white marker and the 28 and 30 cans are marked on the map;)
