For you guys that have put up with my continuing bragging over the years about my son catching fish, I appreciate your patience. He is my only kid and I love him dearly which I’m sure many of you can appreciate. As some of you may have read in an earlier post, I set him up with a 15 ft. Smokercaft so he could give the lake a try on his own. His 1st time out was a skunk on Walleye which I was kind of surprised by but that happens to the best of us. His 2nd trip, he hooked 4 Walleye but with the 11 ½ ft noodle rods he decided to use, he lost 3 of the fish at the boat and only brought home one. After a little strategy planning, he headed out tonight with thunder storms on the horizon, After a slight argument with my wife about my sending him out in the conditions, we got a call on the radio that he landed his 1st Walleye. He worked the spot and landed another one. Weather conditions worsened but we got the call that he had 3. After discussion with my better half I told him to make another pass and head in. He picked up one more and headed for home. If conditions permitted (which really weren’t that bad), I’m pretty sure he was on the way to his first limit by himself in his own boat. I think he is on his way to becoming a true fisherman. Again, thanks for putting up with my continuing “Gone Fishing Jr did good posts”.
Here is a pic of his catch.

The only thing we're tired of is Junior outfishing us ! You have a lot to be proud of so keep bragging. He's lucky to have a Pop's who gives him a little independance too. As long as Junior takes a page out of Senior's book of sharing the knowledge none of us will complain.

Well said Treeman, I'm actually looking forward to that day. Heck, when it comes to sports, he kicked my butt in 1 on 1 basketbalball yesterday and he has a broken collar bone! :p You have to enjoy the time you have together, my father passed when I was 18 and I didn't get a chance to really thank him for all the the great times we had together.

Congrats to your boy. I know exactly what you mean. One of my greatest pleasures in life is watching my two sons learn to love hunting and fishing. My 15 year old has a new job after last weekend. He is now officially in charge of filleting our walleyes.
Be proud my friend and keep right on bragging.

Remember, when his first youth season comes along, I have a spot all picked out for him and all it will cost is a picture :coolgleam

Don't get his head bigger than it already is! :p He's been using my boat name for now "In Cahoots" till he figures what he want to name his. If you hear him on the radio, say hi. :)

I'm thinking that is the plan.. When John is out Harassing the toothy critters, Paul will be filling the freezer with good eating fish. I have witnessed Paul cleaning fish, He can keep up with the best.
By the way John, I had no Idea a 15 foot could be set up so well. PS I saved the photo. NICE JOB.

Nice going Paul. :)
John, his teachers abilities might have a little bit to do with his success.
