I am considering buying a used boat, but admit I don't know much about them. I am primarily looking for something for small inland lakes and most of the time it will be used for pleasure rides and pulling the kids on tubes or skis. I would like it to also be a passable fishing boat. Anyone have any suggestions as to what type of boat I should start looking at?

too many choices.you need to narrow it down with a budget to spend and how much you will use it. a sea doo sportster is a great inland water sports boat with a jet that the kids can climb back on without getting hurt but might cost 15+ grand.
i would consider a 16-17 foot inboard /outboard like a stingray (good hull , less gas used) that can be adapted to fish. these are very economical well built boats.

four winns makes a pricier version that is a good choice too.

so does sea ray.

narrow it down for us and we can help more.

Check out the for sell post here on the Michigan sportsman site. There are a lot for sell right now. You should be able to find what you want here.
Like double trouble said,"you need to narrow it down". Sounds like a fish and ski type is what you are looking for. Maybe a bass boat. I even have a bass boat for sell. Good luck.

I have a Four Winns deck boat that is used for pleasure rides, tubing, skiing, and also fishing. I chose a deckboat because it rides flat, not on an angle. Great boat, and also got it used. But like DoubleTrouble stated, there are many choices. What price range are you looking at?

I was hoping to keep it under 5 grand, but like everything else it always seems to cost more than you think it will. I was looking at the deck boats. The wife is pushing for a pontoon because of the number of people it will hold. I would like something with more performance for pulling the kids around. Is there a big difference in performance between the deck boats and a something like a bowrider?
